Duplicate Ship Names for Carnival & RCCL

HUNNY BUN

What's up with this? Carnival and RCCL have both named their two newest ships the same (Liberty and Freedom). Why would they want to do this? This seems to make it a bit confusing.

This was just a thought I had. Anyone got any answers?

Thanks!!

But at least RCCL has "of the Seas" at the end of their name. There are other ships with identical names as well. For example, both NCL and Carnival has ships named the Spirit. People should always include the cruise line along with the ship name to avoid confusion.

Actually, what is confusing is when cruise lines give a new ship the same name as an older retired ship. Princess does that a lot.

I did that with my son....gave him his older "tired" (not retired) Dad's name

and that gets confusing as well. Now everything we get from some places have "Jr" on it and "Jr" is still only 15 years old.
