Weather along the Rhine

I just returned from a river cruise last week, starting at Antwerp and ending in Basel, Switzerland. The river levels were just fine, and it was cool and rainy in Belgium and Netherlands. As we got into Germany, we got sunshine and warmer weather. But then that was a couple of weeks ago. It may be different now. But expect cool and possibly wet weather. If you get sunshine, consider it a bonus.

I too returned last week from an Antwerp to Basel riverboat trip. Agree that weather from Belgium down to Cologne was not great (I might have been on the same trip as Carole). But it wasn't constant rain. It would rain and then clear, then rain again and clear again. Make sure you bring some type of waterproof outterwear, and plenty of layers. And make sure you have closed shoes that won't get wet. Sneakers weren't the best choice - leather is better. Things got better the further south we went. Have fun - it was a great experience.
