Sunseeker11 Posted June 15, 2011 #2002 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I just bid on Priceline and got the Conrad San Juan for $100 per night Dec 9-11, my first bid was $80 and was rejected, they gave me the chance to bid again with only changing the amount. masquerade Posted June 15, 2011 #2003 Share Posted June 15, 2011 Got the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza for $85 per night Aug 18-21. Can someone confirm that we will have to pay the 14% resort fee during our stay? Also, this maybe a silly question but ... is it 14% of what I paid thru Priceline or listed rack rate? Just want to know up front. Now, i gotta decide whether to roll the dice for 1-night post-cruise. I am leaning towards Sheraton Old San Juan for $88 + tax thru hotwire. Don't really want to chance getting Condado area again, or dealing with taxi to get from dock to hotel. Thanks

Thanks I hate to break it to you, but you need a taxi to get from the ship to Sheraton Old San Juan. Cruises that begin and end in San Juan use the Pan American pier. Cruises that make a call at San Juan dock across the street from the Sheraton Old San Juan. You may want to look at the Sheraton Convention Center. It is supposed to be "across" the street from the Pan American pier, but I don't have first hand knowledge of this and I'm afraid it's just the closest to that pier. That's weird because my Princess cruise in 2007 began and ended in San Juan and it docked across the street from the Sheraton OSJ and my Nov Carnival Victory cruise does the same thing. You might just want to double check.

kitkat9438 Posted June 15, 2011 #2008 Share Posted June 15, 2011 Here's what I found on the web about where the ships dock: Which pier is my ship docking at? There are three major pier areas in San Juan. Old San Juan Piers 1-6, Navy Frontier Pier, and the Pan American Pier as seen above. In general, those ships who are dayporting in San Juan usually dock at the OSJ Piers (usually Pier 3 or 4) so you can walk right out into OSJ. Cruise ships that start in San Juan will use either OSJ Pier 4 (4-E or 4-W) or the Pan American Pier (PAD-E or PAD-W). Rarely, the Navy Frontier Pier is used. I think from reading the website that the 14% resort fee is based on the amount that you paid. You got a good deal because looking on their website for 12/9 it was going to cost me almost $300 after taxes, etc.

cheaptravel Posted June 15, 2011 #2013 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I was poking around on Hotwire today and for SJ resorts it offered me one for $102 and under amenities it listed "close to a golf course." Anybody have a clue as to which resort that might be ?
Sunseeker11 Posted June 16, 2011 #2014 Share Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) cheaptravel & kitkat - I just put in resort, I knew it would reject my $80 bid and didn't think it would accept by $100 bid either. Conrad wasn't my first pick but I think it is a great deal compared to booking directly. No tricks, just what I was given. I don't normally book so far in advance (well I don't even usually book a vacation until the month before) but after seeing that there is at least 1 ship on Saturday and 3 on Sunday the rooms are going to fill up quick. My best deal ever was $50 for a Hilton in Cleveland, never thought my bid would be accepted, that was my first time using priceline. kitkat, thanks for the map! Anybody have a clue as to which resort that might be ? There should be more amenities listed other then just "close to a golf course". Also i think betterbidding dot com is a wonderful resource site to help identify hotels on Hotwire. Just booked one night post-cruise Sheraton Old San Juan last night. I was pretty confident that the hotel would be the Sheraton and it was. I didn't want to risk Priceline so I settled on Hotwire. Sheraton's location seems ideal right near the port; no taxi cost. MomDiva Posted June 18, 2011 #2022 Share Posted June 18, 2011 There is no way to bid for two beds on Priceline. Some people have called the hotel after winning and requested two beds but Priceline does not guarantee this. You might want to try Hotwire, they will take up to 4 people on a reservation for a room. Thank you, sadie8 ! :)
