I just won La Cocha for $125 per night for two nights (4/26/12 & 4/27/12) on Priceline.

Hey Jen.....are you on the repositioning cruise on the Summit? Have you gone to the roll call yet? I just noticed we booked the same nights in SJU so I assume that is the cruise you are doing......

Hi Cheryl! YES!!!!! Repositioning cruise on the Summit! So psyched! I did check in at the roll call but I haven't been keeping up with the thread lately. I'll go there again now.

I see you're in Roslyn. I am in Howard Beach (right by JFK). We're practically neighbors!

We are....thats what is so great about the repo cruise....we are ALL practically neighbors.........we were calling it the traveling tri-state!!!!! I makes it alot easier to keep up the friendships and possible sail again with the friends from the roll call when you live in the same area......

I just booked the Sheraton old San Juan for 100.00 plus fees for February 26th post cruise for one night on price line.

I have been told this is right across from where we will get off the ship, is this correct? We will be on the victory, and it can't get here quick enough.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is anyone winning the Marriott Stellaris? We have a group staying there precruise and unfortunately one of the couples didn't bid when the rest did. We're hoping the Marriott will start winning again so they can stay there with the rest of us!

Tried Priceline at $110 and then $120 for a resort hotel in San Juan Feb 18, 2012 for 1 night pre-cruise. Both bids got rejected. Will try again tomorrow.

Also advice needed from Priceline experts - we are travelling with our 2 kids who are late teens 18 and 19, we have them in their own cabin on ship but were hoping to do one hotel room overnight pre-cruise - will we have any trouble booking on Priceline and getting a room with 2 double/2 queens?

I don't see it being a real problem....if the hotel is booked to 100% capacity then they will probably be able to get you a couple cots.....but everytime I've used priceline I've gotten two beds upon arrival.......

It all depends on what hotel you win. I was in a similar situation very recently - needed 2 rooms w/4 in each, but the kids were younger.

Pre-cruise I won Radisson Ambassador - 2 queen beds. Post it was Sheraton Old San Juan - just one bed plus a lounge that was usable by a child but not an adult. Eventually they sent a rollaway.

Good luck.

Just booked 2 rooms using Priceline at San Juan Intercontinental Resort for $113.75 per night ($110 bid plus $3.75 bonus cash) for 02/01/12 (weds) - 02/05/12 (sun).

Total per room (based on our $110 pay rate) = $501.96 per room / $125.49 per night including taxes

I just submitted two bids on Priceline. One for a 3-night pre-cruise stay in late January 2012. I bid $110/night for 'Resort' level in San Juan (hoping to get Marriott Stellaris) which was rejected but was offered an immediate re-bid if I would agree to up my bid to $140/night. I did so and ended up getting 3 nights at the Intercontinental (which I know nothing about). I see, however, that pghflyer above did much better than me.

For a 2-night post-cruise stay, I opted to split the difference and bid $120/night and it was immediately accepted. I ended up with two nights at the Conrad San Juan so, again, not the Marriott like I was hoping for but at least I am familiar with this hotel as my wife and I have wandered by it numerous times on our previous trips to San Juan.

Croptop...just a little advice I've learned from several years of bidding on Priceline for hotels. When you bid and they reject it and offer an immediate re-bid if you up your price to what they say...Don't go for it. Wait 24 hrs. and up your bid by $5 - $10 and you'll probably get it.

By the way, I got the Intercontinental for first week of January 2012 for $120. My first bid was rejected at $115 so I waited 24 hrs. and re-bid successfully at $120.

Thanks for the advice, Mango. I'm still very much a Priceline newbie (last year was my first time) so I'll be sure to remember your advice next time. I'm still not going to complain, though as the prices I got are still much better than what my TA is quoting for a stay at the Holiday Inn Express (which isn't even right on the beach!) :)

I used priceline for the first time and won the Marriott Stellaris for this past February and loved it. We will be cruising again next February so I was hoping for the Marriott again but was a little disappointed to get the Intercontinetal for $125. After some research here on CC I think I will be pleasantly surprised and I am now actually looking forward to staying there.

You still got a good deal. I can't imagine paying full price for a hotel anymore. I'd much rather have a 4 star hotel for half price than stay at a cheap hotel. I've been spoiled by the great deals I've got on Priceline. ;)

Haven't stayed in San Juan for a long time. Trying to book a nice hotel Intercontinental, or something similar for 1 night on 12/17.

Seems that San Juan has only one area. Right? Just wanted to make sure that we won't end up in some neghborhood far from the port.

Also, what start level should I bid on? 3 1/2, 4*?

Thanks!

Just got five rooms for 11/12/11 at the Intercontinental for $118 plus taxes/fees through Hotwire.

BBowCruiser,

What are Intercontinental characterisitcs on hotwire?

For 12/17 Hotwire has:

4* w/resort, beachfront, casino, pools, restaurant for $121+tx

Serious bidders may want to look at the better bidding site too as they list all the probable hotels and characteristics. Also, they have some good tips....for example, when bidding for hotels in PR, there are about 6-7 regions you can bid in and only 2 of those regions have 4* and above properties....so you can "add" one of those regions allowing you to immediately (not wait 24 hours) up your bid by like $1, knowing you won't win one there...and this allows you to check an approximate $7 price range in a day.

Those were the amenities listed along with tennis nearby, high speed internet, and business center. Good luck!

Question - Hotwire in April shows these along with "laundry facilities" for $135. Is this also Intercontinental? And what are the additional resort fees for Intercontinental?

Thanks!

I don't remember the laundry icon (but it wouldn't have been something I was looking for!) but if you click on the Hotwire link to see the names of the hotels before booking, it shows laundry facilities in the InterContinental amenities.

As far as the resort fee, I believe it said it averages 20% of the cost of your room and is payable at the resort, separate from your Hotwire payment.
