Annefran Posted September 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2006 I am debating whether to book my own airfare or book thru RCL. Last time I booked airfares thru them, they had me going from Newark, NJ to Chicago to Miami instead of a direct flight at 6:30am. Crazy and no sense! Airfares are high from NJ to San Juan, PR. I've checked all the airline sites and other discount sites too. RCL will charge about $579 per person. My question is can I specify the timeframe and non-stop flights only thru RCL? Or do they just limit you to whatever they will purchase?
Globaliser Posted September 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Just one quick note about something to watch out for (because someone else on CC ran into problems because of this): 8 April 2007 is Easter Sunday. That can have a big effect on air fares.
Annefran Posted September 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Just one quick note about something to watch out for (because someone else on CC ran into problems because of this): 8 April 2007 is Easter Sunday. That can have a big effect on air fares. Yes I know, we are actually going the day before too. I have seen where airfares on higher the day before and cheaper on Easter Sunday. Someone told me if I book at a higher rate and the fares decrease, most airlines will give you a credit voucher. So I may just "bite the bullet" and make the reservations at the higher cost and then hope to get vouchers if the price does decrease to use for our cruise in 2008 on FOS. All comments from CC members are GREATLY appreciate. Thanks so much!
JXR Posted September 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2006 I booked air a few months ago. EWR to SJU direct for $241.00. This is for travel on April 27 - May 5. Check JetBlue when there schedule comes out. You could always book with RCL, and cancel prior to the final payment. Good Luck !!!! Joanne
wrp96 Posted September 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Yes, you can call RCCL and request specific flights. That is called doing an air deviation (Custom Air). It costs $50 for custom air PLUS if the flights you want are not at their contract rate, then you will have to pay the difference in fares. To avoid having to pay a difference in fares, I usually call with a list of flights I would be willing to take. You can always call and price Custom Air without committing to it, but once you decide to do it you can't cancel without paying cancellation fees even if you are still before final payment date.
