T&J Posted September 30, 2006 Author #452 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Today was a great sunny day and warm out on deck...many people were out by the pool. Went for lunch and had teh calamari and cheese and bacon sandwich and chocolate cheesecake and chocolate curacoa ice cream and coffee.... This afternoon there was a Cruise Critic get together at 4:30pm that I didn't attend in the Pacific Lounge on Deck 10. There was a blackjack tournament today in the Casino this afternoon from 1:30pm until 4:30pm and the finals were at 5:00pm....not that many people participated. Getting ready to go to dinner in 45 minutes time. Tonight we turn back the clocks again one hour...an extra hour of sleep!....yipppeee! More to follow later tonight from the Pacific Princess.... TexasMom2 Posted September 30, 2006 #453 Share Posted September 30, 2006 YES, I play progressive betting at Blackjack...I am ahead still on this cruise but took a hit last night!!!....OUCH! IMHO and my personal experience most players on ships DO NOT know how to play so I prefer playing one on one with the dealer.... Tony So do I, but that's hard to do on a ship. We were SHOCKED to win a few weeks ago, sitting with people who didn't know how to play. It paid for the cruise and our trip to Vegas in two weeks...I doubt that will ever happen again. suzieque Posted September 30, 2006 #454 Share Posted September 30, 2006 OK, so please explain progressive betting. I don't play much, but would like to know how to do it right!! Hi Tony. I've been following this cruise of yours, too. Really makes me want to get back on right NOW!!! :-) With all your activities, how do you find any time to do your " real" job via computer or whatever??? If I could figure out how to sell houses while on a cruise ship, I'd be there in a flash!!! What is Arlene doing on a Carnival ship?? If I could figure out how to sell houses while on a cruise ship, I'd be there in a flash!!! What is Arlene doing on a Carnival ship?? Suzie Provo Progressive betting is adding one more chip to your bet each time you win. You don't bet with "feeling", but with a methodical approach. If you have a run of 6-7 wins in a row, you are raking most of your win and just risking one more chip each hand. When you lose, you start over at the beginning. If you are having a bad run, you are just losing your minimum bet each time. For example, your initial bet is $5, if you win, bet $10, win, rake $5 and bet $15, if you win, rake $10 and bet $20, and so on. If you win six in a row, you've raked $75 and only risked $5 more each time. The $75 you've raked hopefully will carry you through any bad runs with stake left over for the next good run. Hope that helps.

LARGIN Posted October 1, 2006 #459 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Tony.. Doesn't progressive betting only work when the hands are streaky? What do you do when the dealer wins one, loses one, wins one, loses one, etc..

What do you do when the dealer wins one, loses one, wins one, loses one, etc.. NOt necessarily...when it's like that for about 4-6 hands then I'll start playing two hands to see if it changes anything and if I start winning more than two hands in a row I leave it that way...Tony
T&J Posted October 1, 2006 Author #468 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Good Morning...Couldn't post most of last night as the ships positioning made it that we did not have any satelite for phones, internet or TV...really in the middle of nowhere!Played last night and broke even!....Oh we'll better than loosing....We arrive at 12 noon in Male, Seychelles and depart today at 7:00pm, another short port visit again today.I am hoping that the weather cooperates a lot better than last port of the Maldives....Looking outside the window in the Internet Cafe it is partly cloudy out there. Last night we turned back the clocks again for one hour....I am going to breakfast in 30 minutes time, then dropping a ton of laundry off for my cabin steward to take...More to follow later this morning from the Pacific Princess enroute to Male, Seychelles.....Tony
pollyanno Posted October 1, 2006 #469 Share Posted October 1, 2006 weren't you at male, somewhere else I never heard of, last time you saw shore? there are two males on this cruise? ouch. I swear, I think I've just proven it's impossible to make an intelligent sounding sentence having to do with ports named male when you.. don't know what you're talking about in the first place.. we're all fortunate that my ineptitude didn't wind up sounding pornographic. I guess I'll go visit wiki now.. anno
