2 Things I wish I knew about a 7a before I left on the Miracle

Let me first begin by saying that my wife and I had a great time on the Miracle last week. I will say that I will try not travel on the Miracle again and will certainly avoid the cruise director if I can. The ship and crew were BLAH! But there will be more of that later, when I post my review.

  • My travel agent told me that you could not see the life boats unless you walk out on the balcony and look down. WRONG. You can see them as soon as you walk in the room.
  • Carnival did some kind of maintenence every morning, asking us not to use the balcony from 8am to noon. (Well they did not warn us the first morning, we found out by sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee and had a Carnival employee pop his head up between the boats as he continued to hose down the ship and us!)

We were upgraded so I am not complaining, just trying to warn others. I would have happily stayed in a interior room had I know this non-sense was going to go down!

On the deck plan, it clearly states that 7A & 5A cabins are obstruced views and you can see on the deck plan that there are life boats right outside the balconies. Your TA should have researched and explained this to you.

Atleast you will know next time not to choose these types of cabins and always look at the deck plans when picking a cabin.

Glad the rest of your cruise was good.

Sounds like a 6a, what cabin did you have? Also who was the Cruise Director?

6A's don't have balconies do they? I thought it was category 8's and up that had balconies.

Bill

6A do have French Doors with a Life Boat sitting right outside them, when you open the Door there is a rail that prevents you from going out there. He stated "Wrong, you can see them as soon as you walk into the room" I havent seen a Cat.8 Balcony that you can go out and run into a Life boat.

Would be nice to see the pictures.

I reviewed the deck plan before we booked as you suggested. It is not represented well. Again, not complaining just warning.

Was a 7A cabin 5185. Can't remember the cruise director's full name, it was Chris......

6A's are OV cabins on Spirit Class ships. 7A's have partially obstructed balconies.:)

OK Fred if you say so but it still doesn't sound right to me. You are the Carnival resident expert not me.

I figured Dadof2twins knew what he was talking about since he was the one in the cabin.

Your welcome, Fred. :D

I've never been in a 7A but it's my understanding that with some of them the lifeboats only come up to the bottom of the balcony and with the rest the lifeboats come up to about even with the balcony railing. Anyone know which 7A cabins have the lifeboat even with the floor? I think it might be the most forward (2) 7A cabins but I'm not sure.

I had an obstructed 9A on this floor a few weeks ago ... you definitely can see part of the life boat just while glancing out. I'll also agree that maintenance was constant. They painted a lot (a different color each day) and they also kept the life boats sprayed off. A couple of times, I saw someone crawling around on a boat right outside of my window (off my balcony).

PS - why are some posters being so jumpy at the OP?

Just a note the 6A's on the Spirit class are non-obstructed - completely. The 5A's have french doors and are obstructed by the life boat and have the railing - IF AND IF you lay on the bed and look under you can see some water :D

We sailed in a 5a (cabin 4194) on the Pride in March and it was definately an obstructed view (which we knew before we booked ~ no problems). However, in our case, there were 2 lifeboats and you could see "some" ocean between them and you could see "some" ocean to the right. The little break between the 2 lifeboats helped. But do keep those curtains closed, because the crew do "pop up" at the strangest times.

Sorry your TA did not properly prepare you for the room you would have. I would try another TA who was more knowledgable, because it also sounds like the Legend simply wasn't a good "fit" for you. The Spirit class ships were designed to be more subdued. (I don't know if that is what you meant by "blah") They are not "known" to be as big a party ship as the other class ships that Carnival sails and they were designed that way on purpose.

Whomever you cruise with again, may you have smooth seas, warm weather and cool drinks!!

Thanks for the info as my DW and I have not sailed on the class of ship.
