DALILAH Posted September 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Hey, FH and I would like to have our wedding on the Carnival Legend in September 2007 but we may not be able to book everything until March 2007 since the wedding department wants the package to be paid in full on top of our room. If we send out invitations in March for a September departure do you think that's enough time for friends and family? Also can anyone give me invitation wording? We'd be departing September 24th but getting married a few days later in San Juan, PR.
caviargal Posted September 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2006 If you are absolutely certain of the ship and sail date, I would suggest sending out an announcement - one of those "hold this date" things - now. Many people plan vacations a year ahead and also have to budget for the cost.
mel329 Posted September 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I'm getting Married November 14th on the Carnival Valor and sent out my invites back in April. I'm working with a travel agent and held a larger number of rooms than I thought we needed. I used pocket fold invites and put the general invitation in the middle with a cruise itinerary and booking information in the pocket. We had deadlines for down payments starting in June and the last deadline was in August. I would suggest contacting a travel agent, if you haven't already, and asking them what timeline you have for payments, etc. We have 111 guests booked for the cruise and with the help of our travel agent we are getting two private cocktail parties and our own area in the dining room for which we get to pick the seating. I'd be happy to email you the invite wording and information just let me know. Also if you need the name of a great travel agent, ours has been incredible ! Good Luck
denise14 Posted September 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Mel329 - Thanks so much for the info! I would LOVE it if you would recommend your travel agent. Where did you find the pocket fold invites? And if you could share your wording for the invitations, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks soooooooo much! DALILAH Posted September 19, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Thank you soooo much. I would love the wording and the name of that travel agent. My friends mom just became a travel agent and I would like to throw her some business but she's still new at it so I'm not sure. I'm just worried about sending out save the dates b/c I'm afraid that by the time we book our cruise someone else will have already booked a wedding for that sailing and I was told the Legend only has one wedding per sailing. AAAHHH!!! If you or anyone else has any more advice please pass it on.

TruePositionGuy Posted December 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2006 DALILAH, I was looking at your post and you say that you are getting married when you get to San Juan. I read in the Carnival Wedding guide that PR requires 48 hours to be able to marry. Will you be in PR for 48 hours? Thanks,
lvtotrvl1 Posted December 14, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2006 I am a TA and agree that with this type of group/wedding a TA will be invaluable to you, however, you mention that your friend is new to the business...I would find out how many groups they have organized and how much they know about the specific cruiseline and their policies before I gave them your business. Groups can be very demanding and there are alot of small details that need to be done. If not, your whole group can fall apart, or worse can end as a horror story. If they have not sold groups, I think she/he would understand if you tell them you went to a group specialist. If they understand the business, they will probably thank-you instead of getting in way over their head. Good Luck and have a great wedding!
