kitty9 Posted September 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2006 My sister is on Mercury and said there's a new perk for elite members of the CC. They pick a day in the casino, in her case it's today, Tuesday, and if you hit a jackpot in the casino, and you're an elite member, they double the payout for your jackpot, up to $5000. The promotion runs from 10am until 10pm. Sounds like an interesting new perk.

Nice to see someone at Captains Club is willing to try some new ideas. We havent seen anything new or interesting as far as perks go, in quite some time. Let's hope this is the start of some new ideas !
Cachecara Posted September 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I just came back from Zenith and they offered those of us in Captain's Club the same coupon. Nice. I am not an elite member by the way. :) They do offer free drinks selectively(very selectively) in the casino, to some gamblers that are there on a regular basis and betting consistently and tipping casino staff on their bets consistently, throughout the cruise --at the tables, didn't notice at the slots. Friends of our did not pay for one drink after the first day of the cruise. We mentioned this to the pit boss, jokingly as my DH was putting down bets that averaged twice as much and magically our drinks became free too. :D
bububr Posted September 19, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I just got off the Merc for the 9/8 cruise and the times for the double jackpot was 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM only a half hour. Check with your sister to make sure. Dave:eek:

kitty9 Posted September 19, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Dave, I will check with her on that, but when she read the letter to me that was included in her elite member packet, she read the time was 10am until 10pm. I'll report what I find outl.

JuneauWhatIMean Posted September 19, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2006 The portside of the casino is for smokers and the starboard side is non-smoking. (I think I have the sides right  ) We didn't notice any smoke in the portside (I think) of the casino or in the Navigator's Lounge. I'm an ex-smoker and I hate cigarette smoke but I don't remember being bothered anywhere except the Martini Bar.

It would be nice if that were effective, but in fact, our experience is that the entire casino is so filled with smoke and odor as to be totally offensive. On the Zenith, we actually have to avoid the entire deck where the Casino is located....Not a problem, we can and do do that.....saves me money also so there are some benefits to other people's smoking....... CaliforniaDreamin Posted September 20, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2006 It is exempt from the port=smoking, starboard=non-smoking rule in other venues. Hey, they want the gamblers money, and smokers are gamblers aren't they?

Let's hope this is the start of some new ideas ! Sorry, but I take a different view. After my trip on the Zenith a couple of months ago I reported on how the Captains Club perks had been reduced again and they all basically required you to spend something to get some small benefit in return. For example, if you bought a spa treatment you would get a small discount. The new slot bonus seems like the same thing to me. If you come and gamble (spend your money) you might get something in return. Since slot machines on cruise ships are known to be very tight, I doubt we will hear about too many people getting the advantage of this alledged perk.
