Falkland Island Birding excursion

I am thinking of booking the Falkland Island Birding excursion through Celebrity. I beleive the tour is operated by Turismo Nuevo Mundo. Has anyone taken this tour?

This past January, Celebrity had exclusive access to the 3 places where you could see Gentoo and King Penguins. We could not get a private operator to take us to these places and ended up going to gypsy Cove where we saw 1 King Penguin who put on quite a show for us!

This is one place where I regret not booking one of the ship's tours, even though they were very pricey!

I saw those excursions too but this one is not for viewing penguins. It might be a new excursion. Here is the description:

"Join a local conservation expert on this exclusive expedition to view the Falklands rich and varied bird life. Meet your guide from Falklands Conservation, and receive your bird checklist and a map. Set out on foot for Hadassa Bay. En route, enjoy views of Stanley and Stanley Harbor. Keep a watch for native Falkland birds including dark-faced ground-tyrants, Falkland thrush, upland geese, and the long-tailed meadowlark. Hadassa Bay is home to a diverse population of shore and sea birds. Look for the flightless Falkland steamer duck, rock cormorant, and black-throated finch. Southern giant petrels and sooty shearwaters are a common sight, and Magellan penguins make their burrows in the tussac grass. You may spot Peale’s dolphins frolicking off shore. Continue to Yorke Bay Pond. Waterfowl including speckled and silver teal frequent the pond. Your birding excursion retraces its route to the Visitors’ Centre."

Bumping this thread up in case any one back from the recent Valparaiso - Buenos Aires has been on this tour and has any comments!

We are just back from that cruise & a friend & I did the birding excursion. Thought it was excellent! A nice hike with very well versed guides. We did walk through a penguin nesting ground on our hike and saw some close up. It is a good opportunity to see the flora and fauna of the area. We had a very windy but warmish day .. do dress in layers & use lots of sun screen as UV Index is very high there.
