Louise P Posted September 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2006 We're going to be in Lima for 2 days after our Regal Princess cruise. We are looking for suggestions for tours out of the city, but not to Machu Picchu. Anyone have any ideas? Louise
greatam Posted September 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2006 We're going to be in Lima for 2 days after our Regal Princess cruise. We are looking for suggestions for tours out of the city, but not to Machu Picchu. Anyone have any ideas?Louise Nazca Lines is the closest Readily available from many tour operators. This is one of the best: http://www.enjoyperu.com/peru_travel_tours_information/peru_tours/peru_tours_destination/peru_nazca_lines_paracas_ica_tours.html You could also fly to Juliaca and see Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. And home to the Uros Indians, who live IN the lake on reed islands. Or to Arequippa, then bus it to Chivay and Colca Canyon-home of giant condors (you can actually see them-not like in California, where they are so rare). Chivay has fantastic natural hot springs. Verystormy Posted September 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2006 Lima is a fantastic city which i visit regularly. A few tips: 1) The National Museum is amazing and a must 2) The Inca gold museum is amazing (Museo de Oro del Peru) 3) The beaches are good 4) The colonial area around the presidential palace is a must (Plaza de Armas) 5) A wander and shopping trip around Miraflores and Larcomar 6) Church of San Francisco and its amazing catacombs (Iglesia de San Francisco) 7) Eating - you are in one of the best places in the world:- 7a) La Rosa Nautica - excellent and exclusive though expensive 7b) Astrid and Gaton - International / French with Peruvian twist 7c) Make sure you get to one of the many sea food restraunts for lunch. Lokk for one with plenty of people, though not very posh and just go for it 7d) When out shopping try Peruvian fast food - anticuchos If you need any more help please feel free to e mail me at csn7@le.ac.uk Too many visitors to this amazing country miss Lima and as a result miss some of the best the country has to offer Chris
JennCandi Posted November 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2006 I don't think you want to eat this, until you know what it is. Its cow heart. I was tricked into eating it by my Peruvian husband. I would not have eaten it if I knew what it was beforehand.
