Is it possible to have 2 seperate sign and sail cards?

Me and my husband like to keep things seperate especially since he likes the casino and I don't. I know this doesn't work for most couples but it works for us. No flames please just a honest question. Thanks!

Why in Heaven's name would you think someone would flame you because of this question? Yes, there will be no problem with having two sign and sail cards. I'm traveling with my soon-to-be thirty-year-old son and you better believe that we'll have separate cards (he loves black jack and I love foo foo drinks). Just be sure to tell your husband that what he loses in the casino is his loss but what he wins . . . half is yours . . . :D

It's an interesting question. I don't know the answer but I do know that on the ships that allow you to view your account on the cabin tv, the itemized bill displays which card the charge was billed against even though the folio is the same.

I don't see why you couldn't put a seperate credit card against each room key. I would think this was common for friends sharing a cabin. Why not call Carnival and ask?

Yes it is--you just have to put it on two credit cards--one for you and one for him. Just be sure to get separate checks if you want to keep everything straight--I didn't on one cruise and wound up signing lots of drink tickets while with someone who drank two for my every one and never seemed able to find S&S card!!! Biggest bill I'd ever had on a cruise!!! Taught me a lesson--LOL

It will be no problem to get separate accounts. My sister and I just completed a cruise together. When I received our cruise documents, there was only one form in it to fill in one credit card number. I filled in that form with my credit card info and signed it. When we got to the check-in at the cruise terminal, we just told the person that we wanted to have separate S & S accounts. She say, "Sure!" and she got out another form for my sister to fill in her credit card information.

On our S & S cards, we of course had the same stateroom number but I had one folio number and she had a different one. All that info was imbedded in the little strip on the back of the card, so any purchases (as well as the daily gratuity charge) were put on the appropriate folio number.

Great answers!!! I am happy to hear our original plan will work out. Its nice they can even split the daily tips too! We don't plan on using any credit cards we are putting $500 cash on each of our S&S cards to start. I hear this will be ok since we are doing a 5 day cruise. If we don't use all of our $500 we get it back in the form of a check right? Then will we have to wair until we got home to cash it? Thanks again for the help!

Yes, but we had problems with this ... booked excursions and tips were all assigned to the main name on the cabin (me). We didn't even bother w/ the pursers desk (long line last 2 days) and split the bill ourselves and my Brother paid me cash. ;)

I had read on CC that some people had copied the blank S & S form for the other passenger to fill in their info to use at check-in. We tried this for my sister last week, but they would NOT accept the copy at check-in (at Mobile). But it was no problem....when the lady pulled out another form from her desk, all my sister had to do was write the same info on that form. Didn't take long at all.

Some places may indeed accept copies....but this was our experience.

lets run the list of honest questions people get flamed for on these boards

1) "can i smuggle my own suitcase of liquor onboard?"

2) "i dont like to dress up, can i wear jeans in the dining room?"

3) "can i let my kid in diapers swim in the salt water pool?"

4) "can i save my deck chair to go to the bathroom without being called a 'chair hog'"?

Each card has its own account number or Folio number, you can check to see what was purchased on each card by looking it up on the T.V. under the Folio numbers.

If you want to separate your accounts, you can, We did this with our Sister Inlaw, she wanted to put Cash into her own account. We went down to the Pursers office to get this done, I had her Tips transfered over into my account. At the end of the week, My chargers were put on the Credit Card, I didnt have to do anything and my Sister inlaw had to go settle her account the night before.

When we sailed on the Celebration in April my daughter (6), my mother, and I had our own s&s cards.

In fact my card had an error on it and I ended up getting a second one.

It made a big bonk noise when we tried to leave the ship in Key West. They had to check me out and in by hand. When I boarded the ship again I had to go straight to the Purser's Desk to get a new one made. Thank goodness it did work in Nassau. That was really embarassing!!

But . . . "can two people who share a cabin have separate sign and sail cards?" isn't exactly the same as the questions asked above (though IMHO no matter what the question . . . no one should be flamed on a cruise board . . . now matter what the question).

The easiest way for us was to use CASH. We just put down $300 on BOTH cards when we got on board....that way we had TWO folio numbers...and could check them on the TV....when we ran short, we just ran down, put more on them, and so forth. At the end of the cruise they will cut you a check if you have a S&S balance remaining...or you can go down to the Purser's desk the last night and "cash out" your S&S card and they'll give you cash..your card won't let you charge anything if you do that though.....

This board is great...no thats a understatement...its gggrrreeeaaattt! I have learned so much. My husband wants to know if he puts his "casino money" on his S & S card can he use that in the casino too? I wasn't sure if the casino only took cash. Thanks again everyone!

They will charge you to get cash for gambling from your S&S card. I don't know if that is the case if you put a cash deposit against your account, or not. I forget the exact percentage but I'm thinking 2.5%/3%.

  • 1 month later...

This might have been said already but

He can always use cash, I do it for the same type of reason...

I like to gamble with my money not family money....

So if I'm out of cash I'll use my company Debit card to get cash, I will not put it on our S/S cards period, I even had to explain this to the Lady woring the Casino Cage, after I did she was understanding....

Now my wife does not really gamble but if she wants to play the slots she will cash in some of my chips...
