? re Oriana dress code

On P&O ships you will have several formal evenings (usually 4 over a two-week sailing) when the code is either black tie (tux) or smart suit for men and evening dress for the ladies (this could be floaty trousers and sparkly top it doesn't have to be the full ball gown although some women do wear them). The majority of men will be in Black Tie (tux).

Then there are informal evenings where the men are asked to wear a jacket but do not have to wear a tie, some do though. The women wear cocktail dresses or trousers & smart tops - the sort of thing you would wear to a smart restaurant.

Then the rest of the evenings are Smart Casual where the men do not have to wear a jacket; chinos, short sleeve shirts are ok and the women wear skirts or trousers with tops or some wear short dresses. No jeans, no trainers, no shorts.

The dress code applies to all bars and restaurants for the whole evening. The majority of people on board P&O do stick to the code, but you do get odd exceptions.

The only difference applies to Caribbean cruises when there are no Informal evenings, they are divided between Formal - usually 4 - and the rest are smart casual. Hope this helps. Annie:)

She will be all refurbished and feel brand new also after multi-million pound 23 day revitalisation in Germany November. She will get all new carpets in every cabin, new curtains and bedding. They are also making a very smart fine dining alternative restaurant in the Tiffany lounge with cocktail bar, instead of tranforming the buffet restaurant into The Plaza alternative evening venue to eat as they do now (surcharge applies of about £6.95) but wonderful food.Kids club and teen areas are having a quarter of a million spent on them also, if you have kids that might be useful to know!Enjoy your cruise.Hollyanna:)

We are going to the Caribbean on Oriana in November for 23 nights. There will be 7 formal evenings, 6 informal and 10 smart casual. The previous reply was mostly correct and if you look at the brochure it gives you an idea of the dress code for each type of evening. However, informal does require a tie for men or the type of smart shirt that doesn't take a tie.
