cruising_daisy Posted January 24, 2005 #26 Share Posted January 24, 2005 :) 1/30/05 sailing. We were thinking of making our own excursion to Meridia, Dzbilchaltun, strolling the beach and some shopping in Progreso. My husband's only concerns are missing the ship, because we can't get back in time. I read that it is possible to take a taxi to the ruins and Meridia but what are the chances of getting a taxi ride back to Progreso when we are ready to return? ps: I'm already packed! ;)
hdawson Posted January 24, 2005 #27 Share Posted January 24, 2005 Shouldn't be a problem. Many cabs in Merida. Most are not full size cars. There's also the bus to and from Progreso. I would start with Merida, then the ruins and if time Progreso.
davidaperryman Posted March 10, 2005 #28 Share Posted March 10, 2005 If my ship docked in "HELL" I would want to get off to see what it was like. Why miss a once in a life time chance to say I had been there?
Ivanova Posted March 15, 2005 #29 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Dzibilchaltun (pronounced dzeeble-kal-toon) is approximately 10 miles from the port ... the bus ride to/from the ruins is relatively short making for a 4 hour excursion (compared to the 7-8 hour excursions for the other ruin sites). The cenote makes for a great swimmming break, especially if it's a rather hot day. ;)
