divetrash Posted September 29, 2006 #27 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Oh, I like the Billy, the Elton and the Jimmy well enough. (I'm still looking for a piano guy who can do "Prelude/Angry Young Man") But I have to admit, I like the unexpected songs. A song that you never in a million years would have thought to find in a piano bar setting. From the Valor this past July was "Blister in the Sun". I mean, really, the Violent Femmes in a piano lounge? But it worked and it made me laugh. I like to be surprised. Mark, it sounds like you have quite a repetoire there. But forget the Bon Jovi (I grew up close enough to Sayreville, that everyone knew someone who played with the band, but quit because they thought they were going nowhere). What a Jersey girl really wants to hear is some Springsteen. Got any of his stuff on your list? Oh and I like the dirty songs too... :p Laura

divetrash Posted September 29, 2006 #34 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Ive done whole sets just based on rock n roll *****! MY DINGALING LONGVIEW BLISTER IN THE SUN SHE BOP I TOUCH MYSELF DARLIN NIKKI PICTURES OF LILI... I love it! Theme nights! I remember first hearing "Pictures of Lili" and realizing what it was about. Scandalous! That and "Squeezebox". I might have even blushed. Oh to be that young and innocent again. enough Boss for ya? lol That'll do. Of course "Jersey Girl" isn't technically a Bruce song, since Tom Waits wrote it. But it's so heavily identified with Bruce's version. What makes me laugh is that if you listen to Bruce's version it sounds like a love song to the Jersey girl. Tom's version? Not so much... Which way do you do it? You know that all the piano parts on "Bat out of Hell" were played by Roy Bittan from the E. Street band, right? And Max Weinberg played drums on that album as well. I have a wealth of useless music and entertainment tidbits stored in my head. Just ask Ron. (Oh what a night!) Laura
TennisLover Posted September 29, 2006 #35 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I know must entertainers have websites. Would you happen to know if this Joe has one? And what is his last name? There was a "Joe" in the piano bar on the Conquest when we were on that ship in 04. If it's the same guy, you will have a lot of fun!!

mencik Posted September 29, 2006 #40 Share Posted September 29, 2006 My favorites were always the "adult" themed songs that some of the players will do in the last hour before they quit for the night..... Barnacle Bill the Sailor Hey Ladi Ladi Sweet Lupi stuff like that.... very funny with a bunch of drunks singing dirty songs

(ever watch people coming back to the ship in a port with a Carlos n Charlies or Senior Frogs? hee hee :p)

(ever watch people coming back to the ship in a port with a Carlos n Charlies or Senior Frogs? hee hee :p) Yes! One of the best entertainment shows we had on the Destiny was sitting on our balcony while docked in Aruba, and watching the drunks try to stagger back to the ship from Carlos -N- Charlies before sailing......
