Do we need bug repellant?

Leaving for M.R. in 2 wks. That would be Oct. 13th. I have read somewhere on these boards that we need to bring bug repellant, and anti itch ointment for bug bites. Is that true? Please advise.

If you'll be going to the jungle, like on the Canopy Tour in Puerto Vallarta, for example, you'll want to bring some bug spray. On the beach, there's seldom a problem that you'll need bug spray for.

Thanks J. & S. for this reply, as well as all your helpful info. on these boards! Deleting the bug repellant, and anti-itch ointment. Just doing the beaches, no excursions. Thank you again for all the advice now and in the past.
