We had member of our group (my dad) find out he can't go on our cruise, carnival victory leaving out of chas. 10/15 - 10/20.

I dont really want to go without him, but the TA said if we got a refund, we could only get 50% of our money back, then turnaround and have to pay more to book another cruise. any ideas on selling these tickets (its only $50 to transfer tickets to someone elses name) a little cheaper and take a loss LESS than 50% of the price???

Generally you can change the names of the people on the reservation up until a few days before the cruise - as long as one of the original people on the reservation is still going - for a small fee. You can't transfer the whole reservation to another group of people though. So if your dad had a roommate, then you could just substitute somebody for Dad for a small fee. But if your Dad was by himself, then no you can't transfer the reservation to anybody else.
