What is Shabu Shabu???

Recommended Posts

Please forgive my ignorance, but could someone please explain to me what kind of food/restaurant Shabu Shabu is on the POH? :o

It's a type of Asian cuisine where you cook your own food in boiling water which sits in the center of your table.

Shabu Shabu means "swish swish". Typically the water is brought to a boil in the kitchen, and delivered already heated, to the warmer built-in to the table.

The diner then adds onions, and spices & seasonings to the water, and then vegetables. Once these are nearly cooked, and have contributed to the flavor, you would then add the meat you have ordered.

Hope this helps.

If you are not that hungry just order the Shabu. If you are hungry order the Shabu-Shabu. If you are very hungry order the Shabu-Shabu-Shabu.

Shabu-shabu (Japanese: しゃぶしゃぶ), also spelled syabu-syabu, is a Japanese variant of hot pot
