Atlantis

You can take an "excursion" through the ship to Atantis - but you can also go on your own. There is a ferry that will take you over to the resort - very resonable. Anyone is allowed in the casino - but you will not be able to use the resorts pools, slides, or private beach. At one time you were allowed on the beach, but they have changed that policy. You can go through the aquariums if you want.

It's worth seeing, pretty amazing place. After we were there on a cruise, I took my daughter back along with my sister and we stayed in the Royal Towers for a week. Absolutely beautiful, but very expensive.

I will second the very expensive! It is a great resort and I would love to stay there for a week, but I don't think I can afford it. I think it is about 700 or more per night and I can find much better things to do with my money. The aquarium is one of the best I have seen. We took a cab for I think 5 bucks per person and it was a very quick ride.

When we got off the ship, there were lots of taxi/tour operators at the end of the pier who wanted to take us on a tour. We went with one nice man who showed us his credentials, and had a nice tour of the area plus took us inside Atlantis and to the digs. We did this for $25 pp. (I think I remember the price correctly.) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

Definitely go to Atlantis!!! We visit there everytime we're in Nassau. There will be plenty of cabs lined up when you get off the ship. It's typically $4 per person each way. If you're in Nassau overnight, go to the aquarium where you can tour "The Dig" for free (after 7:00 p.m. I beleive). I'd highly recommend touring "The Dig." It's one of the largest aquariums in the world. And, it's really amazing. The casino is open to anyone and usually crowded. They have many, many, many cute shops (yes, expensive, but nice window-shopping). There's also a new ice cream place that's supposed to be very, very good. And, the straw market is also worth visiting (in my opinion). Keep in mind that the prices in the straw market are not set. You can deal there. In the stores, it's another story.

Enjoy Nassau! We do every time.

Last year we stayed at the resort for an extended Labor Day Weekend. Four (4) nights for $99 a night and we got round trip air from Baltimore for $235 per person. We had a great time!:D

Consider taking a water taxi over to Atlantis. The water taxis are right by the pier. Thye let you off at a pier near the basket shop of Atlantis. It is a short walk to the hotel.

The water taxi is a a more relaxing ride than the land taxis and I don't recall that they take much longer.

Some ships offer a water taxi/Atlantis package. We did that one on Majesty of the Seas. It included a tour of the aquarium. That way we didn't have to pay a separate fee for the aquarium. If you go by taxi, you will be able to see some of the aquarium for free , but you must pay for the guided tour of the greater aquarium.

Get off the ship and grab a cab - that's the easiest and quickest way to get to Atlantis. It is about $5 per person and don't be shocked when you go over the bridge and the cab driver looks to you to pay the toll. You can go through the casino part of the resort as well as the shops and down by Harbor Village no problem. If you want to get something to eat they have several options - all of them are pretty expensive but you are in the tropics at a 5-star resort, it's to be expected.

I have always taken a cab over and had a great time. This February I went down to the Bahamas and stayed at Atlantis and LOVED it. It was nice to be able to roam all over the resort and use all the facilities and my SO and I thought it made for a perfect 4-day weekend escape from the snow.

Can we not take the #10 Jitney bus over to the Atlantis area? Or where does that bus take you? I'm sort of confused about the whole thing!

Thanks

Tammy

There are no jitneys allowed on Paradise Island. (the #10 goes in the opposite direction ). You can grab a cab for $4pp from port, or take the ferry for $3 and walk a few blocks to Atlantis.

Here's a map that may be helpful.

I believe the best way to get there is by taxi. The ferry will leave only when it is full. The ride was $4 pp. We confirmed that price up front. We did not pay for the toll fee. There are lots of taxis waiting when you leave Atlanits.

We have had the pleasure of staying there. DH won a trip through his company. I have been there two times when on cruises. We got a room at the Comfort Inn, which I felt was money well spent. That way you can really see lots more.

Water taxi's leave every 30 minutes - full or not. But if you just missed the last one... it's a 30 minute wait til the next one loads up and leaves.

The fare is $3pp and they run from 9am - 6pm daily.

Taxi's are also available. But not nearly as much fun.
