ajcruise Posted July 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2004 Hi, I'm just wondering if ships dock or require tenders in Barbados? Thanks!

Sunniebgi Posted July 15, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2004 It depends on what time of year and in the season between Oct-Apr it will also depend on what day of the week. Mostly the ships are docked but if you get a "good" ship day, meaning 5 or more vessals in port, one may end up using a tender. I haven't seen a tendered used here in a while, so unless it's a very busy port day, likely you will be docked in the deep water harbour. happy sailing
barbados Posted July 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2004 You’ll most likely dock and not tender if you arrive between 6AM and 5PM. As Senniebgi said, it also depends on the time of year and how many ships are in port, but generally we find that: Cruise ships dock and cargo ships wait! (Although you will not notice, we’ve dredged the harbour, increased the ship turn-around lane and used the dredged material to add nine acres of reclaimed land to the island. As this disturbed the coral, we are re-planting new coral for one year. Barbados is quite dedicated to the environment and this harbour enhancement and coral re-seeding is primarily due to the cruise industry and the ever-increasing cruise ship visits). Have a wonderful time on the island! :)
