P&O Cancel "Schoolies" cruises

P&O Cruises Australia has just announced that it will discontinue marketing "Schoolies" cruises. These are cruises targeting end of year high school leavers ... a bit like your Summer Break.

The public backlash to the death of a woman on board, alledgedly due to an overdose of the date rape drug, has been the main reason for the change in direction. Everyone's just a bit over kids behaving badly ... and the predators that follow them onto cruise ships.

For those wondering... "Schoolies" is the Australian summer break for kids. Having a "Schoolies" cruise would been the equivalent of having a specific Spring Break cruise in North America. When you offer "Schoolies" cruises on the only 2 Australian home based ships it can get pretty full on!

I think this was posted on the wrong board... even though P&O and Princess are under the same umbrella.

Actually, I posted it on the Princess board for a reason. I saw it as general interest, rather than P&O specific ... especially as Princess has been having well documented problems with youth cruises e.g. "The Brownie Riot".

Obviously, someone knows better and moved it here.
