Glory review 9/30

:) Just off the Glory on Saturday. Had a blast. The only bad part was my DH getting sick and therefor missing St. Marrteen.

From the begining....

We left town on Thursday so we could have a few days to explore Cape Canaveral. So we went to the Kennedy Space Center. For anyone who hasn't done that go. It was amazing. We did the guided tour defentily worth the extra money.

We took the transport from our hotel to the pier. We stayed at the Raddison at the Port. I was expecting this to take forever, but we left the hotel at 11ish and was on the ship having fish and chips by 12:30. After lunch to our room. No problems. Meet our room steward Garfield. Nice guy, didn't see him much and when we paged him for something it was easier to just ask someone in the hall way. He never came. Kept the room tidy though.

The food & the service...Our head waiter was Solecan, can't remember the other guys name. Don't know if the even told us. My DH and I were at a table by ourselves and felt like they didn't care as much about us and the larger tables. The girl who was our bartender in the dining room was absolutly great. We don't drink alot so durring dinner we just got soda and we did by the fountain card. We always had our drinks at the table before we got there and they were always kept full. We never had to flag her down to get a refill and if we saw her before dinner she would make sure of what kind of pop that we wanted before we even sat down. She chatted with us and had more interest in us than our servers. The food had the best of flavors, but most of the time it was warm, not even hot. The flavor would have been even better had the food been hot.

We went to Naasau, St. Thomas, and St. Marteen. In Naasau we went to the Atlantis casino tour. It was cool, but alot of walking. There was a water taxi to the casino area, and we had to walk uphill to the casino about 1/2 mile or so and then the tour. Lots of neat things to see. In St. Thomas we did the helmet dive. That was a blast. Going down the ladder into the ocean with the helment on was a little hard, as that you had to go slow so you could represurize your self. If you go to fast it hurts a little and you need to get your ears to pop. Take gum, like you would on an airplane it would probibly work great. I didn't think of this.. In St. Marteen we didn't get off the ship for long. My DH got sick and we went back to the cabin. I hung out around the ship and he slept for two days. At the second formal he didn't even stay at dinner.

Overall the trip was great. The Glory was beautiful. I couldn't figure out how to get the outside decks at the front of the ship. So if there were dolfins out there I didn't see them, so we went to SeaWorld after we got back so I could see them. And got to see Shamu's baby brother or sister. His mom just had a new baby on Sept. 18th. And that was awsome!!

Glad you had a good time! We did the Eastern Itinerary last May on the Glory. We loved her too but I also found it difficult to navigate! I hate that!

All in all we enjoyed it though...sorry to hear your hubby was sick!

Our next stop is the Western Caribbean on the Triumph...looking forward to a different venue and different ship!

The weather was great. We had to go around a storm on the way back. that was when the waters were a little more chopopy. Kept having to regain my ballance.

Just remeber that decks 5 and 9 go the entire length of the ship and if you get the platinum dining room go to 5 and the aft elevators down to 3 or 4 to get to the dining room.

We went 9/02/06 on the Glory. The CD then was a guy named Mark Price.Everyone raaved about him,but I didn't think he was anything special. The best and most helpful guy for us was the shopper advisor....a fella named Johaan.(Don't know if the spelling is correctbut pronounced YOOOHAAN). He knows where some great deals are.The ship is wonderful, the pursers desk was the worst part of our experience. We were treated like farm animals by most of the staff at the purser's desk. One person in our group put down$250 on the S&S card, but later that night found out she was only credited with$25(watch this bunch closely and bring witnesses).Nothing special about them though,I always get treated like dirt by the pursers on Carnival ships. It's all that magnificent location power they have over your money!!! The food on this ship is top quality. Anyone that says different is WRONG. I have cooked in many star resteraunts and wll tell you....These folks do it better than any other Carnival ship. Check out the Emerald room at least once. It is worth the extra money....The ship is spotless and everyone except the control freaks at the pursers desk was kind and helpful. We will sail again and again on this ship(Good Lord willing) .
