Can Someone Explain Noordam's Standard Inside Staterooms

There are so many different prices and sizes listed on the HAL site. What is the true size and are they all configured the same? The photo on the Hal site shows one set up while the drawing shows something else? Can you also book a guarantee inside with the hopes of an upgrade? Anyone ever do that and get an upgrade?

Thanks

The rooms are sometimes reveresed as the plumbing is too hotels do that as well.

The prices are different as usually the higher up you go in floor the more it costs.

We have and do book a guarantee. The lowest room will be the one which you book at. The highest depends on the UpGrade Wizard and Fairy...

Hope , yes is eternal. We have had nice UpGrades with HAL too. They are one of the best Cruise lines if not the Very Best@!

There are various sizes, configurations and locations of inside stateroom - that's why different sizes, categories and prices are listed.

You can book an inside guarantee and hope for the best, but the likelihood of getting a free upgrade to an outside or better is slim-to-none.* It's always best to book the category of stateroom that you'd be happy with.

Marie,

There are variations in size from large to standard inside cabins. The standard cabins on Noordam are very small, approx 140 sq ft I've heard. I'd stay with the large. When you book a guarantee, choose the category that is minimally acceptable to you so if you don't get an upgrade you won't be unhappy. We booked an SZ on the Westerdam and were upgraded to an SC aft suite. I didn't want anything smaller than what we had had on the S and R class ships when we booked A and B veranda cabins and S suites which are approx. 290 sq ft and 550 sq ft respectively. There is a good chance of upgrade on a Vista ship. This was our first guarantee, we had always chosen the cabin we wanted, but we took a chance and it was worth it.

Hope this helps,

GN

My mother and I were on the Zuiderdam Alaska July 8-15/06. We had booked this in early February 2006 as a guarantee (inside cat MM no cabin no. I think on deck 4 or 5). As the cruise date was fast approaching, I would check online to see if we were upgraded and what cabin we would get. Sometimes I would check 3 times a day. One week before sailing I called HAL and they said that if I waited this long for a cabin no., it would be a great upgrade. I was afraid I was going to be sleeping in one of the lifeboats. Finally, the day before sailing, I contacted HAL (6:30 p.m. - I was surprised that they were still there) to see what cabin we actually had. To my surprise, they had the cabin no. and they said it was a 10 category upgrade. We ended up with cabin no. 1020 on Main deck (outside), which is the bottom passenger deck. Of course, I thought that was more of a downgrade with being booked on deck 4 and getting deck 1, but we went from an inside category to an outside. Also, I had looked at the deck plans and we were right under the casino and just down from the main show lounge. Well when we boarded the ship and found our cabin, it was in a great location. The main show lounge was just down the hall, but we heard no noise from there. Also, with being under the casino, we didn't hear anything at all. We didn't even hear from the cabins on either side of us. The ship must have great soundproofing. Next time I consider HAL and the Zuiderdam, I will definietely pick this cabin again. This is the 3rd time that I have booked a guarantee (twice on NCL and once on HAL) and each time have received a great upgrade.

We have sailed on HAL with guarantees somewhere around a dozen times. Out of all those times we have been upgraded all but three of them. Every time it has been from an inside to an outside. Apparently this doesn't happen for everyone but we have had fantastic luck with upgrades. Perhaps it is because we book directly with HAL, I don't know but we are happy with it.
