I am going on my first cruise 11/12 on the Conquest and am very excited about it! My question is how formal is formal? My traveling companion swears she will not put on a dress! Is a nice pants suite okay for a woman or do we need to plan on pizza for formal nights??:(

Many will be all decked out... tuxes, full length beaded gowns, etc. Formal, being formal. That being said... some people will wear just a nice dress, church type clothing... and I've seen some nicer dressy pants suits...

I see no reason why a nice pant suit cannot be worn by your companion.

I've seen women in black silk like slacks with a sparkly top.

A fancy pants suit would be fine, There will be alot of women in formals, cocktail dresses and a few in pants suits.

I agree...I think it is totally fine to wear a pants suit. What makes a woman any different than a man?? (same goes for men, if they choose to wear a dress) :p

I wore two formal pants suits last year. No problems at all!
