HAL supplied infant crib on the O'dam

I did a search of this HAL forum with no luck to this question:

Are the HAL supplied cribs the 'Pack n Play' type?

and one more question I'll sneak in (!)

Is there an age restriction for the Pinnacle Grill?

Thanks! :)

Here's a review by poster "Babytraveler" who cruised with her 2-year-old and 5-year-old girls this past June to Alaska. I think it may answer a number of questions for you:

Middle Aged Mom,

Thanks for the link to that review :) - it was very informative.

The review, however, only mentions in passing, info about the crib:

"Our portacrib had a tear in the mesh. That would have freaked me out if my child had been younger and could have gotten caught without my noticing. At 2, I just told my daughter to avoid it. The crib was clean, but no bedding was included. Luckily in my massive luggage I had brought a portacrib sheet, and daughter’s own blanket and pillow."

So, my original questions stands:

"Are the HAL supplied cribs the 'pack n play' type?"

Thanks!

Andy

If nobody here on this board has the answer for you, perhaps you could call Holland America's Ship Services department at 1-800-541-1576, and they might be able to tell you. Unfortunately, they are not open on the weekend, so you'll have to wait until Monday. Hopefully, someone who has cruised with small ones on HAL will see this post and be able to assist you. I'm not sure myself what kind of a crib HAL provides, other than it is some kind of portacrib. (My children are older, so I haven't needed to use any of HAL's baby services.)

I too would like to know. Based on babytraveler's review, it seems like its a pack n play based on the the mesh reference.

What concerned me was the lack of bedding, no sheet???? On every cruise and in every hotel we have been provided with a sheet and a little blanket, sometimes a pillow (thats a little strange in itself!) for the porta crib/pack n play. Did babytraveler ask about that? Maybe it was an oversight I hope????? When my kids were very small I would bring a sheet but now I'm all for less work!!!!

We're taking our 9 month old daughter on Maasdam next month, and have confirmation from HAL that the "crib" is indeed and pack 'n' play.....I believe a Graco model. We're a bit bummed because our daughter has a habit, although she sleeps through the night, of thumping her legs on the bottom of the playpen, enjoying the noise that it makes. Oh well, it beats staying at home!
