just back this morning, and here is my review.

we booked this cruise back in january to celebrate our 20th anniversary.there were three of us, i am 51 yo, my wife 42 yo, and our 16 yo son. we knew nothing about cruises, as this was our first. we live in virginia, and found this cruise leaving from Norfolk that we could drive to in only three hours. we spent two days in va beach pre cruise to unwind from work before cruising. we consider ourselves to be pretty laid back, and easy to please, but still even after spending time daily for nine months on this site we were not sure what to expect from a cruise vacation.

the ship:

the Victory seemed to us to be in very good condition. ships crew were cleaning, and doing repairs daily. for the entire cruise every crew member we saw gave us a smile and a hello.

we booked a ov guarentee, and got a balcony on deck six, room 6262. great location, and we loved the balcony. could never settle for less. we were spoiled first time out.

cruise director malcolm burn was great. my son loved him.

our steward was victor, and did a great job. we miss him allready.

food was great in every venue, and we tried them all.

lido deck band "impulse" was fantastic. we spent a lot of time listening to them.

all the shows were enjoyable and seemed to be well done.

the cruise:

when we left Norfolk, weather was bad, and until mid day monday the seas were rough. heard the waves were up to 12 feet. monday afternoon it cleared up, and was perfect the rest of the cruise. monday night was formal and it was really nice to dress up and spend the evening with all the other passengers looking so nice. tuesday after docking in nassau we did some shopping, and spent a couple hours at senor frogs having nachos and drinks. after dinner we taxied over to atlantis and walked thru the digs, and spent some time in the casino.

wednesday took a taxi to cable beach for the day and spent some time on the beach. we really enjoyed nassau, and would love to go back to see more of it.

thursday was freeport, and went to our lucaya. not very impressed, and would not want to ever go back there.

friday was our last day, and was a sea day. spent most of it on lido deck.

arrived back in norfolk saturday morning, and was off the ship and on the road by 11:00 AM.

our thoughts on this cruise:

24 hour a day food can be dangerous. we ate a lot, and enjoyed it all.

even though we carried on a bottle of vodka, and finished it off we still had over 40 drinks on our sail and sign card. you tend to drink a lot on a cruise.

would certainly recommend this ship. she was perfect for us.

will answer questions if there are any. i know i couldn't put everything into this review.

now it is just a matter of picking the next cruise out because we are hooked.

as malcolm would say................WOOHOO

Cool review....Even better is we are staying in that exact same cabin on the Victory on our next cruise over Halloween. Was is nice and well maintained (anything we should know?).

the cabin was fine. for us it seemed to be in a perfect location. it was over the front end of the shops which close by 10:30 each night so no noise late. only a short walk to stairway and elevators. one deck down to most of the action. victor was our room steward, and we really liked him. he kept our cooler full of ice, and left us towel animals each night. room was well taken care of. this was our first cruise, but we loved every minute of it. will cruise with carnival again, soon i hope.

no mini bar or fridge. just a selection of sodas and water they will charge for if you drink them. we took a small cooler that held 14 drinks, and the steward put ice in it twice a day for us. worked out just fine. lasted us all week. could have picked up more in port if needed. there are drink machines on the same deck $1.75 each, and ice machines.
