Past brides-was 2 hr. reception long enough?

We are sailing on the Enchantment of the Seas in June 2007. We are planning to be married on the ship on the second day of sailing in Key West. We are going to do a Buffet Reception for 2 hours with a DJ and second hour of photography. I'm wondering if anyone has done a 2 hour reception and if they felt that it was long enough? If not, we were thinking of trying to buy a 3rd hour cocktail reception through Royal Caribbean (RR won't let us) and starting that cocktail reception when the 2 hours is over. Somehow maybe we can play CD's for that 3rd hour. I hope to hear back from someone.

I assume you have sailing guests? I have a 2 hour reception booked on NOS and have 66 non-sailing guests on embarkation day and honestly, I appreciate them all but they need to get off after the 2nd hour so I can start my honeymoon :D:o.

 

Anyhoo, interesting question...I'll grab my popcorn and see what others say.

I think 2 hours is plenty. What time is your wedding ceremony scheduled to begin?

Since your guests will be onboard I think it will be long enough.

Depending on what time your reception is you can always go to asigned dinner times on board (for free) or continue the party in one of the public rooms (ei disco, casino...)

2 hours is long enough.

 

We had our wedding on the 3rd day of sailing while the ship was tendered in Cabo. We had a 2 hour buffet lunch reception and everyone was able to get off the ship and enjoy some time in Cabo.

 

Hint: Request a 10, 10:30 or 11 am wedding. That way your reception will be over sometime between 1 and 3 and people will have some time to get off and enjoy a bit of Key West.

 

If your wedding starts at 10 a.m. you would just have an early lunch - around 11 a.m.
