yst347 Posted October 24, 2006 #26 Share Posted October 24, 2006 we leave on saturday so should be OKwill the liquor store have wine too? I am not familier with this specific liquor store in Galveston but Texas liquor stores do stock beer and wine. For others who might read this thread, liquor stores in Texas close at 9:00 pm Saturday and do not re-open till Monday.
Guest rfrenchbaxter Posted October 24, 2006 #27 Share Posted October 24, 2006 We flew into Houston and RC had a bus waiting for us and took us to Galveston. Our cruise was in December 2005. The water was VERY rough and dirty! We did not spend any time sight seeing in Texas! Any port would be fine really! We are leaving from San Juan and I have read a lot of negative and positive things about San Juan! Have a great cruise!
DannyMac Posted October 25, 2006 #28 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Liquor stores in Texas do stock beer and wine although the wine selection may leave much to be desired. Closing time for a liquor store is 9:00pm Monday thru Saturday. No liquor sales on Sunday, although Walmart, and grocery stores can sell beer and wine after 12:00 noon on Sunday. There is a store that stocks wine and beer on 21st or 20th street one block off the Strand.
gratefulguy Posted October 25, 2006 #29 Share Posted October 25, 2006 If you click on the "Yellow Pages" button at the top of this page, enter Liquor Stores and Galveston, Texas, you will get listings that have a map feature to locate the business. One that came up shows a "Frankie's Liq." close to the pier at 101 21st Street. You may want to look for others, because that is not the part of Galveston that caters to the sophisticated wine drinker!
