Where to Stay Pre/Post Cruise in Miami?

I know there is a forum category for hotel recommendations, but it doesn't look like it's been active in quite a while. I am looking for a good place to stay for a few days pre or post cruise in Miami. Ideally, it would be nice to be close to the beach and not too far from MIA & the cruise terminal.

 

It seems as though the best way to go is bidding on Priceline. Thanks!

To use priceline and find what hotels are being offered I use

www.biddingfortravel.com scroll down and look at florida- click on Miami then open the link to see available hotels.

MD320, to find the type of hotel you describe, to be honest it's gonna cost ya especially depending on when you're going. We're staying out near the golf course at Doral for about one-third what we would pay downtown, once we considered taxis or rental car (parking is practically nonexistent from what I've heard) and the cost of the room itself.
