De Palm Beach?

We are doing a jeep safari in the morning and tried to book the excursion to De Palm Beach in the afternoon. Princess said it was too close together time wise (1/2 hr). My question is can you go to DePalm beach on your own? Can someone recommend a different beach that would have lots of activities for our teens? Everyone on these boards are always so helpful & I appreciate it. Thanks
