PhoenixCruiser Posted July 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2004 Hi Howie :) 1) You can eat at The Windjammer (buffet), could grab some pizza and small sandwiches at the Cafe Promende, eat at Johnny Rockets ($3.95/pp), eat at either Chops or Portofinos ($25.00/pp), or order room service (only cost is the tip). We ate at all of the above and never had a bad meal. 2) The cost for the in-room internet connection is $100/week, you need to provide the computer. 3) We arrived at 11:15 and were in our cabin by noon. Have fun planning :D
pltag Posted July 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2004 PhoenixCruiser is right on, but I'll add my two cents. We learned to love the pizza and little sandwiches in the cafe promenade, especially late at night or late afternoon. Both Chops & Portofino are excellent....try and do both if you can. In room internet is $100 for the week, however there is also an internet cafe which you are charged by the minute. Hookups are very slow, but all I used this for was 2-3 very short sessions to check on things at home. Ours was covered by coupons from our Platinum C&A books, but either way our charges were not more than $25 - $30. As far as boarding time, we usually get there early afternoon (1:00 - 3:00) or so. If you are flying down same day, relax.....you are not going to miss anything it is a long week. If you are flying down the day before, same advise....relax, have a nice breakfast....you will have planty of time to explore the ship and enjoy your first day. Have a great cruise! :):)
murphykputts Posted July 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2004 A reply to the internet question. We were on the Eastern Route. In St. Thomas and San Juan our cell phones worked and my husband's wireless Sprint PCS card worked. This way we were able to check our emails mid week. Does anyone know if your cell phones work on the Western Route?

jaguar9748 Posted July 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Adding my 2 cents too. We thought the Windjammer was excellent - the best buffet by far so far. We ate there for breakfast and lunch. The Cafe Promenade was great for snacks. We absolutely loved the dining room - food and servers were excellent. We ate at Chops ($25 per person). It was good, but we missed the dining room and the food was almost as good in the dining room. Thus, we cancelled our reservation at Portofinos. We ate at Johnny Rockets once. I thought it was OK - my kids really liked it. My son dragged his laptop with him and never used it. The internet cafe was large and never crowded. Unless you're going to use the internet a lot, I would leave the laptop at home. One less thing to carry! We arrived at 11:15 AM and were on board by 11:45. It was a fast and painless embarkation. Have fun!
