On other cruiselines, I was able to "sign" for cash that I used in the casino. In reading my documents that just arrived it indicates that a 3% fee is charged for cash advance from the front desk. Does the 3% fee apply to cash advanced in the casino.

yes it does -- i one cruise i was to lazy to walk back to the cabin so i took an advance and paid the 3 % -- i only took 100 bucks and it was worth 3 not to have to give up my seat at the table

HAL and Princdess are the only 2 lines I know of that do charge the 3%. It isn't that much but it does gripe me. I go to the casino, I get a $100, I gamble and most likely lose and I have to pay them for the money I got from the cashier. I believe I will try to stay away from the casheier cage on my HAL cruise. I agree that it is ridulous insofar as the more people have eas access to money in a casino, the more likely that they will lose more money. Why add another 3% advance to the house.

Casinos advance you cash through especially credit lines which is essence a 14 day interest free loan. Why because the come out in the end ahead

I always say that I make deposits not withdrawals when I go to a casino. I don't need a surcharge. I'm glad I read the fine print and asked the right question to the right audience.

Now I know that I have to bring cash or travelers checks. I'm not losing another $3/100 if I don't have too. Fortunately, the add the tips to your bill so I won't need cash for that

I agree with stuNYC!! We're in the casino where they already have a house edge (depending on the game an avg. of 2.5 - 4.5%) then they add 3% to get some cash!! doesn't sound all too fair to me. And this on a line that doesn't have ATM's!! You either bring it with you or use an ATM in port I guess
