Galveston-Can we drop luggage off?

Can we drop the luggages off to the terminal porters earlier then drive the car back to the hotel to be parked, then ride the shuttle back to port? The luggages will be dropped off about 1 hr earlier or more. Or the luggages has to be attended till check in? It will be in Galveston. Thanks for any information. I did not want to lug around all our luggages in the shuttle, I have a reputation for overpacking.;)

Just make sure you give it to the right porters. I recently read (it happened in Florida though) that the luggage went on a different ship.
