DEEGEE Posted November 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Returned Sunday Nov. 5 th. Flights to and from had no problems, but those who bought items in duty free that were more than 3 ounces, ie. booze needed to pack it in their checked luggage at point of arrival in US. I thought that this may put checked luggage overweight and incurr additional charges, making that pretty expensive booze, but don't know for sure. Cruise over view: 14 nights Amsterdam to Basil via Mosel to Trier. Avalon Tapestry has great Accommodations, 172 sq feet, lots of storage and room for luggage under beds. Bathroom and shower are well appointed, but may be a little tight for larger persons. We chose lower deck cabins with non opening windows, water never got above window line, as Tapestry cannot take on ballast due to two part construction. Some problems with exaust fumes and cigarette odor from the crews quarters entering cabins during lock passage was reported from all level cabins, this was annoying, but passed when beyond the confines of the locks. Dining room and Lounge are well appointed and accommodate all passengers comfortably Food was well presented and although portions are adequate additional portions were available. Wine during dinner was not great, but was typical of the region, we averaged 3 - 4 glasses at dinner. Lunch buffet was usually typical regional food with at least 2 hot entree's, the breakfast buffet featurted an omelette station plus additional hot breakfast items. Will post more info as I gather and organize notes on the voyage, but will answer any questions.
relevart Posted November 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2006 Thank you so much for your review. Too bad about the smoke smell throughout the ship when going through locks. Glad you had a good time!
