Forward or Aft??? High or Low???

Hello all, have to make a quick decision (based on TA pressure). Sailing on the Royal Princess in June...do we want to cabins at the very front of the ship on deck 6...we'd be looking directly ahead (located between the two large Suite Staterooms). Or, do we want two side cabins on deck 8. Other than location, the cabins (w/ balconys) are identical. Egads.

If it were me, I'd go with deck 8. If there are waves or choppy movement, you'll feel it a lot more if you're far forward than further back. Even if you don't get seasick, the movement could bother you. But perhaps someone who has been on the Pacific or Tahitian Princess ships could give you better information since those are very similar to the new Royal Princess.

Gross generalization of course, but smoothest mid-ships, low.

 

On the R-class ships (and the new Royal is one) the forward cabins do get a lot of anchor chain noise at anchor ports, and thruster noise/vibration when docking. That can be a disturbing wake-up call.

 

We were in 6051 on Pacific Princess (new), and thought it a great location.

We were in 4031 on Oceania's Regatta (another R class ship), and it was also very smooth and quiet.

 

We are booked in 4032 on Oceania's Nautica (yet another R class ship - there are 8 of them) later this month.

Michael... glad to hear you thought 4031 is a nice, quiet location. We're in three cabins on the Royal a year from now: 4036, 4040 and 4042 (all next to each other.)

Another consideration to think about. Someone told me that those cabins that face forward can be windy and that they were not able to sit on their balcony on sea days.
