How much do you spend on average?

5 night was about maybe 225.00. It was less than 100.00 until last night and I hit the sales in promanade and did some early xmas shopping. Had soda cards on it, a few photo's, internet, a little shopping on board, johnny rockets. not much really to spend money on unless you really shop alot or drink and we prepaid excursion. We used cash in casino but only came out about 65.00 ahead after all week of playing roulette. Just depends on what everyone likes to do. :)

Shopping, excursions, and tips for a family of 5 add up... Our previous three cruises with RCCL, between 1,600.00 and 2,900.00. Ouch!! It's always worth every penny, though. We'll happily make our contribution again in January. :) Can't wait!!

I can't believe you get away so cheap....what am I doing wrong? On the average for a family of four we spend around $2,000-$3,000 on a 7 day cruise. We do not drink every day but do enjoy a cocktail or two but no froo, froo souvenir glass and usually buy a couple bottles of wine to have for a few nights. We buy a lot of the professional pictures, buy items on the promenade, tips, play a little in the casino, bingo tickets, spa, Portofino's and Chops and Johnny rockets. Kids do spend a lot in Arcade. This does not even include the shore excursions. wheww!

I must share your post with DH. I thought he was getting off easy ;) We don't usually do the spa onboard. I'm sure that makes a huge difference in and of itself!! We don't do the casino or many of the froo froo drinks either, but my kids do enjoy bingo (have yet to ever win a dime), and I do my share of damage in photos. That arcade can get pretty costly, so we do put a limit on that.... There is so much else to do anyway. Our 5th fam. member is Grandma. She is probably a whole lot more economical than my kids are!!:D I will say the bill tends to go up with each cruise. I guess each time we appreciate living in the moment more and more and become less fixated on the $ figure. It's just DH and I for our anniversary in January. I have definite plans for leaving a contribution at the spa this time around, maybe even the casino, too! :)

I always pay all tips in cash except prepaid tips and I add cash to that also. Use cash in casino also that we have on us and pre-paid excursion and there is only DH amd me so much less on seapass than if we had a couple of kids with us! Actually now that I think about it I paid for my last night purchases on board with my RCCL visa so seapass amount is less than I stated. I did pay for photo's on seaspass because they wouldn't accept credit cards. I think DH had a glass of wine at dinner one night and I just do not like the taste of alcohol that much so used soda card. I can see though how drinks can really add up on a seapass card though. Like i said it just depends on what everyone likes to do on a cruise. We like the casino so play quite a bit and usually break even or come out a little ahead and we only plan one excursion per cruise and enjoy the rest of time in port exploring ourselves. We loved the dolphin encounter in bermuda and that was 376.00 and doing it again in June and will book thru RCCL again and prepay with cruise. I try to get as much paid before we cruise so no shockers at the end!

Not including the excursions because we book them months in advance or pay the money to the private operator at the time of the excursion, our seapass bill is usually $300-$400 for a 5 day and around $600 for a 7 day cruise. The expenses are mostly for drinks, pictures, gift shop.

369.00-seeing doctor on board for son's ear infection--I have insurance so I'll get this back.

50.00 casino

135.00- excursion in Grand Cayman

25.00- bar

20.00- ornaments

20.00- the best photo

This was for a seven day.....

I take cash for the tips to put in envelopes. You can choose to spend as little or as much as possible.

I gave my kids 50.00 to spend. I told them they can spend it any way they want: arcade, soda card, shopping. etc. One son spent the whole 50 at the arcade and had such buyer's remorse, and the other has his 50.00 in is wallet--he did not spend any of it.

First cruise 7 day - $225 (DH would not let me spend a dime!)

Second cruise 7 day - $550 I told DH I was getting any and everything I wanted. He did not get or do much, but I did 2 spa services and had a great time shopping. We did all independent tours.

Upcoming cruise - I have already told DH I will be enjoying the spa and jewelry shopping in St. Maarten.

Just off the Radiance, and my bill was $173. That included a purchase of two bottles of cologne for $85, a soda card for $50 and all onboard tips charged to the account...plus whatever other spending aboard occurred (bingo, drinks). I also had a $100 shipboard credit.

I gamble off cash, and in this case, spent $40. I spent another $20 in Antigua for a cab ride to English Harbor, and $25 in St. Thomas for an island tour, plus $10 for a drink at Mountaintop. Total expenses for the trip over the cost of the cruise: $268.

My cruise last year on Zuiderdam had $225 shipboard credit, and I spent $20 gambling to win $130, which paid for bingo and additional gambling, plus lunch at Sloppy Joe's in Key West. Total expenditures over the cost of the cruise: -$15! I had to go to the purser's desk the last day and have them pay me back $15 on my shipboard credit. That was nice!

I'd say on average, my charges run between $100 and $200 most of the time.

I also agree that it really depends on the itinerary and length of cruise. On our 12-day mediterranean our bill was close to $3000.00 for me & mom (thank goodness she was with me!!). The European excursions are soooo expensive because almost every tour is 7 or 8 hours w/lots of transportation to-from port, unlike the caribbean where you can just hop off the ship and explore. Also, spending 12 days on a ship it's hard to not have a huge bill, especially when mom likes bingo so much!!!

But when my boyfriend and I are on a week long one we spend between

$500-$1000 but hopefully it will be less now that I realized we could be using the CL for drinks around dinner time!

Hey Killa, how ya likin this rain? I'm here in RI.

Both of our cruises were almost $2000. Mind you, we do drink fine alcohol, dine in specialty shops, and do get spa treatments. No casino, and no shore trips on that tab. We do a little shopping, not to much.

I know this sounds like alot and it is, but we don't live like this at home. We don't get spa treatments, we are not shoppers, we don't drive a fancy car...we just really enjoy cruising and our vacation week! We like to spurge on the cruise or whatever vacation we are doing. But at home I clip coupons.

This is why a nice room, specialty items and other perks mean so much to me. Because vacation is special to us.

Actually I got $ back. Three excursions were cancelled so I was using my OBC from those cancellations as my spending $. I had a cocktail almost every evening before dinner and a glass of wine with dinner and I still ended up with a credit back to my VISA for about $30.

4 Night Sovereign a few weeks ago....$528.00 for 4 people and $886.00 on the Enchantment in 2001...that was the 7 night eastern cruise. We've done 8 cruises and it's usually averaging about $100-$125 per day for 4 (2 adults/2 kids) and that's what I've always budgeted.

Soccermom, I put a certain amount of cash on their sea cards for games. it worked well for us. One kid on the same cruise ran up $1800.00 just at the arcade!! The parents were in total shock. You can put a limit on it, but I think it is still up to 500.00. I did not put a hold, but I did make it clear that they were not to use their sea cards for anything I don't know about. Of course it depends on the child, mine did fine.

Oh my GOSH!! I'm trying to do the math as to how that is even possible.... Say $1.00 ish per game? OK, lets say $5.00 per 5 mins., even. That would be $60.00 an hour. $1800.00 divided by 60.... 30 hours of arcade time. That would be a little over 4 hours of arcade per day over a 7 day cruise. I can't even fathom my kids spending that much time on arcade games, but I suppose it could be done... Can you imagine receiving an arcade bill that equates to more than a full cruise fare!! (Or two!)

Try explaining that one to mom and dad when the sea pass invoice arrives!! :D

Geez oh whiz! I must be one of those boozing, smoking, gamblers who they see coming a mile away.

On June's Freedom cruise my seapass was just under $1000, but that didn't include the $500 cash I lost in the casino and spent in ports. My excursions and tips were also pre-paid. And this is just for ME! The only non-consumables I purchased during the week were two photos, and I didn't do spa-services or specialty restaurants either.

Guess I need counseling! :)

Well, we don't know what the amount our final SeaPass account was for our 22nd - 29th Freedom cruise because the computer system wasn't working!

Therefore, on the final morning we only received a part itemised account with a note to say the total would be debited to my credit card and I would receive the final itemised account within 14 days to my home address.

I know it's only 12 days since the end of the cruise, but I still haven't received that final account, and I presume, being in the UK it's going to take some time by post from presumably Miami!

However, having checked with my bank, RCI have been quick enough to debit me on Nov 1st! That value is in £, so I don't know how many $ because for the 2nd year running RCI have ignored my instructions NOT to convert the account into £ and charge me a conversion fee, but to let my bank do it. I don't know why they give this option if they ignore the customer's instruction. RCI's decision to convert and charge me a fee is clearly stated on the part itemised account!

Once I receive the final account I will be writing to RCI to complain, 1 for ignoring my instruction (yet again) and 2 for taking so long to provide me with the itemised account when they have the cheek to debit me so quickly.

So, as a best guess the amount will be just over $1140 for 2 of us. That's after $100 OBC (so $1240 really) and the following:

Alcoholic Drinks ($400 not bad for 7 days for 2, when the average price of a drink is $5.75 including gratuity, roughly 2 beers, 1 glass of wine and 2 cocktails per day)

Soda Packages ($100)

Wine Package ($130)

Cologne ($60)

Shave and Massage (A Clean Shave) ($66)

Photos ($40)

T Shirts & Gifts ($45)

$200 from casino

Speciality Restaurants (both Portofinos & Chops average $85 per visit)

Cruise in Review DVD (not worth it!) ($29.95)

Don't get me wrong, if the final account was available on the 29th Oct I wouldn't care when they debit my account, they could do it there and then!
