ft.lauderdale hotels and transportation to Miami

Hi this is my first post ever to Cruise Critic. We are booked on the Navigator of the Seas for 9-25-04 and will be flying to FLL the day before our cruise.Airfair difference from St.Louis to Ft.Lauderdale versus Miami was a huge savings of $350.00. My question is where to stay in FLL for 1 night and would it be best to take hotel shuttle back to airport to catch RCCL bus or is there a better way to do this, We arrive at 1pm day before cruise and would like to be near beach Any help on this would be great, I have used Priceline and would this be the way to go and if so what area would I bid on Thanks so much everyone

Personally i prefer to stay near my embarkation pier... reduces the potential for anything to possibly go wrong the next day (car trouble, traffic, forget something at hotel, etc).

A taxi will run you about $55-$65 from FLL to the Miami pier. Since there are at least 2 of you (i deduced from the airfare difference) i would just take a taxi. Shuttle service, private car, and shared ride services are offered by FloridaLimo.
