disembark Whittier - how early?

Most of the Princess ships arrive in Whittier at a very early hour (midnight - 3:00 a.m.) How early can one disembark from the ship? We plan to hold our luggage so we don't have to wait for the longshoremen to unload for us.

All luggage is off before the passengers. Disembark usually starts around 6:30am for the cruisetour people getting on the trains.

Can us independents get off first, or does Princess reserve the first spots for their own transfers?

I suppose if you had someone to pick up early in the morning you could get off the ship. First tunnel into Whittier is 5:30am and the ship out of Whittier is 6am.

You just walk off the ship anytime you choose. Get in line and go. Bear in mind the tunnel schedule if you have to be somewhere early.

thanks for the replies. If we do want to disembark early, it sounds like we'd better carry our luggage instead of waiting for the longshoremen. Anyone know when they have luggage ready to pick up in the warehouse?

As already mentioned, NO ONE is getting off before the luggage is out. Independent travelers are few on Alaska cruises and the luggage area small. :) It will be out before 6am as already posted.

 

But it is a great benefit to pack light and carry off all your own. I've been doing that for several years now. Has allowed me many benefits in early disembarkment with NCL being first off the ship. :)
