Hello

My wife is not too keen on going on the train and bus trip out of Skagway.I can across a site when I was browsing the web detailing a bus tour out of Skagway which takes around 6.5 hours. Can't remember at present which site I saw it on but is was some independent company . Has anyone been on this particular trip?. I also do not wish to hire a car for the day as some suggest. We sail from Vancouver with NCL on 27 May. IG

Does anybody know how much the 3 hour tour costs? Also, is it the same 3 hour tour that you can book through the cruiseline? What is the difference between the two tours?

ARe all the cruise tours necessarily more crowded, even in Alaska where you go on smaller boats? Do you still have to wear a number sticker like in Europe on the big tours?

Here's the schedule for the train: http://www.wpyr.com/schedule.html

If you're talking about the roundtrip White Pass Summit Excursion - it is $98 if booked directly with the train, and more if booked through your cruiseline. The difference is where you board the train: at the ship dock vs. in town at the rail depot.

If you're talking about a 3.5-hour rail/bus tour to Fraser, BC and back (that's the one I just reserved) - it is $109 through Chilkoot Charters: http://www.skagwaysbesttour.com/summitrail.htm

I don't know what that costs through the cruiseline, but they have similar tours.
