Numbers and Letters

What do the numbers and letters on the ship stand for?

Numbers are the room level?

Letters are the deck?

If that is right what is the difference between a 4 and 5? And so forth?

Letters are for deck ... numbers are for cabin types.. Oceanview.. inside.. balcony.. suite.. penthouse

The number is a room class. Four is inside. Five is port hole. Six is ocean view. Seven is French doors. Eight is balcony. Nine is extended balcony, and on Spirit class also a bigger room (though not a suite). Eleven is the small suite and twelve is the large suite.

The letter does not always indicate the deck. Some decks have more than one letter associated with the deck. Also, sometimes a cabin one deck higher will have the same letter as a cabin one deck lower. In general, A is the cabin within the category (4, 5, 6, 8 ...) that is on the lowest deck. Then as the letters increase, so does the height of the deck.

A 4C cabin might be on the same deck as an 8A cabin. An 8C might be on the same deck as an 8D. Nonetheless, usually a #A cabin is on a lower deck than the same # D cabin.

Suites (cat 11 & 12) do not have letters, no matter which deck they are on.
