What is around Puerto Limon?

Hey All,

 

We are doing a white water rafting excursion with RCCL. When we return from the excursion we will have about 2 hours or so before boarding time are there any shops near the pier area in Puerto Limon? I usually like to get local crafts is there anything like that around the pier area? Thanks for any info.

I think I saw one shop near the pier, so except for banana ships, there is next to nothing at Puerto Limon.

Plenty of shopping right at the end of the pier. Just look for all the blue tarp covered stands. Great local products, especially the wood products. Things are reasonable (you can barter also) and the people are friendly, not pushy.

We also did the white water rafting and loved it. The tour operator will point out the shopping to you on your return to the pier.

on the pier where our RCCL ship was docked there was a fabulous craft market...lots of wooden items, some jewelry, coffee, handicrafts at decent prices. I felt there was alot to choose from.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait and just warned hubby that he is going to be carrrying a lot of souveniers. LOL :p

We just came back and went rafting also. We loved it, but wished that we had more time on the river.

 

As others have said, there is a good craft market at the end of the pier offering various wood items, coffee, hot sauce, T shirts and other crafts. Walk around and price things before you buy and do not be afraid to bargain. For example, we got 3 puzzle boxes for $10 at one booth when others were selling them for $5 to $8 each.

 

There are also a few shops outside the gates, but be careful of going much further into town on your own. Its a very poor area and one of the passengers on our ship got hurt in a robbery.
