Missing QM2 transatlantic

Hopefully someone can help?

The Cunard site shows the QM2 making two eastbound crossing next April.

Voyage No. M 706 NY to Southampton Dep. 18th April 2007 6 days

Boyage No. M 708 NY to Southampton Dep. 30th April 2007 6 days.

The problem is the site does not show Voyage No. 707 - the Westbound crossing..... 24th April?

Any ideas about the missing voyage?

Hi, I have checked the brochure, not there either!

I can only deduce that the ship has been chartered in it's entirety, as it has to get back to NY somehow. It has been known for a large group of pink cruisers to charter entire ships, maybe that is the case?

That is what I was thinking.

I guess I'll just have go over a few days earlier in QE2. ;)

Stephen:

The ship has indeed been chartered,...by RSVP Travel. The 5/29 crossing has been chartered as well.

Russ

BTW, love your painting of L'ATLANTIQUE on Les' book.

Thanks Russ! Damn good book too! Les does a good job.

With a little bit of PC how to, here are the actual pages for this crossing on the Cunard website :

http://www.cunard.com/CruiseItinerary_tab.asp?cruiseid=2823&LeftNav=Planner&Active=&Sub=&OB=&Region=

http://www.cunard.co.uk/CruiseItinerary_tab.asp?cruiseid=2794&LeftNav=Planner&Active=&Sub=&OB=&Region=&ShipID='QM2','QE2','QV'&CruiseDate=&Duration=

Can't book them though of course.

Chartering a 2,600 pax ship, that is confidence! Does look as if it is fairly well booked up in to the bargan.

Stephen:

I have ordered the book and am awaiting it's arrival. You're right, Les does do a great job,...and he's a joy to work with. I was lucky enough to help out with his BERENGARIA book (which, BTW, also has a wonderful painting on it's cover).

Spoke with a couple on my recent QE2 cruise who are booked on it!!! its pretty near full, and bear in mind there are no sailaway discounts or past pax. It will bring in a handsome profit for RSVP!

One does wonder where on earth Dorothys party will be at:rolleyes:

cheers

Thanks again!

That BERENGARIA painting was originally painted as part of the QM2 collection. One day I had a call from an interior designer in New York that wanted an 'ocean liner' painting for a new restaurant. I decided to sell the piece and paint another one for QM2. Pack and sent off I then found out that the new restaurant was not in New York but on board one of the new Celebrity ships!!!! :o

I wonder what happened.

One of two things could have happened:

1. They didn't come up with the second payment

or

2. They asked Cunard to take back the space due to poor subscription.

Full ships charters are a nasty business to sell retail. They have an 80% no-go rate. Honestly, they only work for affinity groups who are committed to traveling. Trying to sell a full ship charter on a retail basis..... argh.....only causes sleepness nights and ulcers.

Been there, done that!
