Linda VH Posted November 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2006 There will be six of us and we'll probably hire a driver with a van. Where should we not miss for lunch. We'll be on the QM2 and would love someplace that has burgers, roti, fresh fish, etc. Any help is appreciated. Linda
thatbloominplace Posted November 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2006 we found that cheffette had decent rotis and burgers. we sought out rotis from some of the locals and that is where they said they all got their rotis. while i have had better on some other islands, they were pretty good especially from a fast food kind of place
Sunniebgi Posted November 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2006 The Roti Hut is a great place to get Roti's, but not sure about the other items you are suggesting. It's located in Worthing, on the south coast. My husband likes the ones from Chefette and you could still get burgers there. Not the fresh fish option unless you go a Chefette that has a Barbeque Barn attached (there is one across from Rockely/Accra Beach on the South coast. Barbeque Barn has more platter style lunches as well as a salad bar, but a member of your group can also order a burger or roti from the Chefette side as well. Rare mexicobob Posted December 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2006 I know I show my ignorance; but what is a roti? MexicoBob
thatbloominplace Posted December 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2006 essentially, it is a rather large crepe-like dough stuffed with various fillings. they are quite personalized and vary almost from chef to chef, never mind island to island. the major ingredients usually involve curry, potatoes, vegetables such as cabbage and onion. then chicken, beef or even conch are added. they are quite good and one is a meal.we tried the roti hut and cheffette and were surprised that we liked the ones at cheffette better. most of the islands with an indian heritage have rotis and they are now becoming popular in the boston area where either indian or caribbean food is served. steve
