January Caribbean Water Temperature

Does anyone know what sea water temperatures are likely to be at Grand Turk, Tortola, St. Thomas and St. Maarten in mid-January

i am a wusse when it comes to cold water, but when we were there a few years ago, and even last year, the water was mild. Not like bath water, but warm enough to swim and snorkle without getting chicken skin!

Water temp in the Caribbean doesn't change much at all during the year. Since their temps don't vary much, water stays pretty much the same year-round.

With my experiences the water actually can be a bit cool, but easy to get used to though. I've only cruised in January and it's never been too cold.

My DH and I took a southern for Halloween this year 2006, water temp in sea was nice, I hate cold water. Last December 2005 my DD and I went to Grand Cayman and I swam with stingrays, water was nice. Late Jan. last year 2005 went to Cozumel with girlfriends, water was nice. So I guess the answer is, the water will be great. Have a great time :D

Hi - Good question, but answers could be subjective based on personal preferences and level of tolerance.

We were in STT/ STJ USVI last January 2006 - lets just say it was "refreshing" - certainly not like bath water. I was able to snorkel for a little while though- Where a LS T-shirt over your swimsuit or a tropical weight zipup dive suit (not so expensive) if you are really concerned about being chilled.
