Alberta Beef

We will be in Calgary for an evening and a day and want to partake of some of the famous Alberta Beef. Can anyone reccomend a good downtown steak restaurant within walking distance of the Fairmont. We will be there on a Sunday evening.

Well the Fairmont Palliser is probably a good place to start, or you could walk a couple of blocks to Stephen Avenue Mall where there are a few nice restaurants located. One that comes to mind for beef is Saltlik.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk (our streets are safe and the evenings are pleasant for walking), our favorite place for steak is Caesar's Steak House on 4th Ave and 5th Street SW. Hy's Steakhouse on 4th Ave & 3rd Street SW is also a good choice. Both restaurants are well worth the walk. As mentioned by cruiseryyc there are lots of places along Steven Avenue Mall (8th Avenue). Your hotel is on 9th Ave & 1st St SW. Too bad you weren't here during our Stampede--next time!

We had steak at Hy's near the Westin in Calgary and it was just fantastic !!! Would definitely go again.
