What do we do at Sailaway?

Hello Everyone,

We are taking our kids on their first cruise this January. We will be on the RC Voyager of the Seas. I'm curious what we should do during sailaway? Should we watch the parade on the promenade or be outside waving good-bye to Miami? Please offer suggestions? Do they have the parade at later times so we can be outside to watch the ship pull away from port and then go see the parade?

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Well hopefully the muster drill will be done and over with by the time you sailaway. If it is, there's usually a party on the 'lidodeck'. You can join it the fun, watch from the next higher deck, or whatever you want. Maybe go to the front of the ship and watch the land pass by. Probably some good picture ops. However, ABOVE ALL ELSE get yourself a FooFoo Drink and enjoy. Have a great cruise. Here's something for you to sing;

Thank you so much everyone. I agree....I'm going to take the kids out to watch us sail away from port. Parades come and go...but sailing away into the sunset...not there is something to see...oh and that foo foo drink...

Thanks,

Laurie

Parade first night is 11:15 PM. Sailaway is around 5PM. The Lido deck is where the band for sailaway will be playing. It is on the same deck as the Windjammer or the buffet where you got your lunch when you boarded. The parade is held on Deck 5 which is the Promenda.

  • 4 weeks later...

We took our kids last year on a cruise (mind you they were 25 & 27 at the time), and since they also brought thier boyfriends who had never cruised before, we made a special event out of our sail-away by bringing bubbles and watching them fly away with the wind as we were pulling out of port. After we had our 15 minutes of fun we ended up giving them to a few little ones on deck who ended up having a blast with them after we did. This actually was fun and now has been deemed a must on any other cruise that we all take together.
