Slot Payout on the Dawn

Has anyone had luck on the Dawn slots? Any suggestions on which ones to play and which to avoid?

My first two cruises on the Dawn, I made out very well on the slots. However we just did a cruise to nowhere, and the slots were very tight, I didn;t see anyone hitting anything. There are some new machines, I really didn;t like the casino on my third cruise. I don;t care if I win (well I do) but I like to see "someone win".

On the 11/12 Dawn cruise one of our fellow diners at Teppanyaki had just hit a $1,000 jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune machine. I hit $300 once, but I have to agree with the previous poster that all in all, they seemed pretty tight.

I hit the 1,000 wheel of fortune both times on my first two dawn cruises, amoung other smaller amounts. This was the tightest I have ever seen this casino and with the amount of people in there, you would have thought someone would have hit something. Also, it may be me but I thought there were alot more table games this time around, I don;t seem to remember as many on my first two trips.

I thought that NCL had the best payouts at sea. Maybe the other cruiselines have zero payouts - but NCL was written up in some slot magazine as having the best payouts.

Maybe it's relative? :p

I play slots alot, go figure, and as I said the first two times on the Dawn I had very good luck. The best luck I had on a ship was on the Voyager of the Sea, I won about $ 2,200.00 in that casino.

Also, while I was on the century for the second time I hit $800.00 one afternoon when I was just passing by and the casino beckoned to me to come in, 3 weeks ago on the Century, nada, nothing, tight. It seemed as though if you hit anywhere between 50 and 100 dollars the prudent thing to do would have been to cash out and move on. I saw one person hit 450.00 the entire cruise.

Hi ..we are about 29 min away in Hackettstown. Small world.

There are a lot of north Jersey-ites here on the NCL boards. :) Must be the attraction of being able to sail out of NYC?

Rumor has it that the slots are losser the first night to get cruisers hooked on then.

It is just that a rumor, the slot machines run on random number generators, if you were going to change the odds on a slot machine, you would have to change the settings in the computer chips. Which would be a daunting task every cruise. It just can;t be done.

The slot machines are networked. Odds can be changes via internet from the main office on land to individual slot machines by altering the EEPROM in said slot machine.

An EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) is similar to an EPROM but the erasure is accomplished using an electric field instead of an UV light source. This eliminates the need of a window. Usually, EEPROM refers to a device that requires a programmer or special voltage to program it.

With all due respect you are dead wrong. This same theory has been floated and shot down many times before in many gaming publications.Casino's do not adjust the odds in their machines for better or worse odds at different times of the day or week.It must be done by the manufacturer, the only machines that are connected fleet wide are the progressive machines. The casino will win whether it has a pay back of 89% or 95%.You might understand electronics but you are obviously not a serious player..

1. Cruise ship's casinos are not regulated.

2. Maybe I will start a company that makes slot machines that have changable programable odds.

3. I would have to keep it a secret because if came out I would be in a lot of trouble.

I've won on NCL slots each time...the Sky, the Sun and the Sea. On the Sea I hit 3240 quarters ($810) on one of those machines that has the 5 pay lines. I usually avoid those as I don't have a lot to play with and it can go very fast at 5 quarters a pop but the casino was very crowded so I got on that machine with my $20 and it was paying enough now-and-then to keep me going for a while and just as I thought I'd be heading back to the cabin soon, I hit that...the most I've ever won on a slot machine. (I didn't give any of it back to them either!) On the Sky and Sun I may have won a $100 or so by cruise-end.

I've lost on every Carnival and RC cruise we've been on. In fact! I've never even gotten ahead to even give it back on CCL! Their machines are truly 'One-armed Bandits'!!!! I usually have about $60 to gamble with on a cruise.

Some cruise ship casinos are regulated. The odds cannot be changed unless the main computer chip is removed and replaced. This can be done but it is an expensive undertaking and because of that not cost effective. You have to understand that they don't have to change the chip since they will overall get whatever the desired take on that particular machine is. The machines right now cannot be changed by some computer in some back office. Also, in casinos that are regulated, when the chip is changed they require the regulators to be there and witness it. Botton line, they don't have to change them and don't. Check any independent web site and you will find out the truth about slot machines..

Actually, changing the winnings by a flick of a switch is the number 1 myth of slot machines.

That's what they want you to believe. We can't handle the truth.

I'm saying it can be done, If it is we don't know.

I find every time I put out my rumor some posters say either

Yes I won the first night

or

Be adament that it can't or didn't happen.
