JMP1973 Posted December 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2006 Morning ALL! My sister and I have booked a cruise for next Nov and our TA told us that the closest airport to fly into would be Orlando. How far is Port Canaveral from there? Should/could we cab it? Or would it be cheaper if we rented a car? Thanks so much in advance! Jackie
racegrrl Posted December 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2006 It's about an hour drive in good traffic, very easy to get to. We rented from Budget at MCO, (went down the day before, highly recommend this if you can, lots to do in Orlando), and returned it at their Cape Canaveral location. They shuttled us to the docks. Very easy and convenient! Cost about $30 plus fuel, cheaper than the $25 pp transfers, plus we had wheels to do fun things and shop for last minute items (beer/wine ;) ) Have fun! You will love the Glory!
Pusniski Posted December 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2006 Orlando (MCO) is going to give you the best options for air fare. Very few get better deals and flight times flying directly into Melbourne, FL (MLB). Expect 45 minutes but plan for a 1 hour drive. If you are renting a car there is a Race Trac right before you get to the rental car companies. Great place to buy beer and water too. Closest to Port offering free shuttle to port: Budget Avis Hertz Thrifty There is National but it is a further away and doesn't offer a free shuttle back. Hertz & Thrifty are off site at MCO but they have reliable and frequent shuttle service from the terminal to their office which is just down the street. You can do one way for each leg btw so you aren't paying parking fees and extra days you do not need.
