Does anyone have pictures of the romance suite on the Jewel they could share? I am trying to determine amenties and how they differ from a regular penthouse.

Thanks

Search webshots.com for "Jewel Romance Suite". There are pics posted there. I just came back from an E. Caribbean cruise from 1/21 -1/28/07. I was in Romance Suite #10166. I will try to post my pics as soon as I can. Feel free to ask me any questions you have.

Hello Sweet Dreams,

The link below will take you to our pics of room 10666 on the Jewel. We stayed in it on the 14 - 21st of Jan. Boy do I miss it. The suite was great. The biggest difference I noticed was the balcony size. It was awesome. The 2 AD's in the center have a 100 sqft balcony. The outside 2 have an 88 sqft balcony.

ArtieG, we just took an upsell to 10166 on the Jewel and we would love to see your pics. (We sailed the Jewel last year and were in BC's, this year a BA and an AD)

Questions:

Who was your butler? How did you find his services?

Same question on the concierge?

Any problems getting into the specialty restaurants with last minute reservations through your butler?

Any recommendations for us on amenities that come with the suite that we should not overlook?

Thanks in advance.

Questions:

The butler was great. Her name was Flordeliza Flores, commonly called "Flor". She was always available and always offering to take care of our dinner reservations. We had breakfast in our room almost every morning. We ate Kosher, so we didn't take advantage of the specialty restaurants. We ate almost all our dinners in Azura and once in Tsar's. Get to know the Maitre 'D, Manoel Silva, commonly known as "Mano". Because of our special Kosher needs, we gave him a few dollars ($50, to be exact) on the first day in Azura, which he sincerely tried to refuse, but we insisted. From that point on, Mano didn't know what to do for us. He, together with Flor, coordinated all our meals, some in the Dining Rooms and some in our suite. We told them the night before or in the morning when and where we would be eating, we always had the same table, which we liked, and never had to wait on line to get seated. Even the girl at the front desk of the restaurant referred to us by our name, "Good evening Mr. & Mrs. G..." Made us feel like the millionaires we aren't.

Same question on the concierge?

Alex Forbes was the ships concierge. We met him at the port on embarkation in Miami, in the special area reserved for suite and villa passengers, and he had someone escort us to our suite. We really didn't find the need to use, or should I say "abuse", his services, so we didn't. We did find him very useful on the disembarkation back in Miami. He wisked us through customs and popped us through the long debarkation lines when we got tired of hanging around our suite. We did see people use him to get special seating for the shows in the Stardust Theater. We had no need for these seats and were completely satisfied with the normal orchestra seats that are readily available.

Any recommendations for us on amenities that come with the suite that we should not overlook?

You are treated in the Romance Suite as you would be in any other suite in the upper categories. You will most likely be invited to a private cocktail party on the second night where you can meet the Captain and some of his crew. We went, but DW was feeling a little sea-sick so we didn't stay long and missed the opportunity to say hello to the Captain and have our pic taken with him. Oh well... We also received an "Exclusive Dining Invitation" that invited us "to dine exclusively in a private dining room for breakfast and lunch." The private dining room was Cagney's Steakhouse. Again, we didn't take advantage of this offer because we preferred in-room breakfast and the less formal buffet lunch. Also, being that we ate Kosher, our choice on Cagney's menu would be limited. But do give it a shot and let us know how it is.

You will enjoy the suite, the balcony is huge and mostly private as long as your not hanging over the railing. The sound of the ocean at night (we always left our balcony door slightly open, so we could hear it) is addictive and sumptuous. One major complaint we had is that they would high-pressure-wash the deck of the Great Outdoors Cafe (on Aft Deck 12) around 4-5:00 AM and the water would run down to our balcony sounding like Niagra Falls. It woke me up every night (I am a light sleeper). You may also find remnants of that wash, like watermellon peals and Sweet-n-Low wrappers on your deck when you get up in the morning. They should really find a solution to this problem. The Aft Balconies on Deck 10 stick out more than the balconies on Deck 11 which is why we ended up with the dirt on our balconies. The Stewards usually rinsed off the baclony when they came to clean up the rooms, but not always. As uncomfortable as this was, it didn't take away from the overall great experience we had on this cruise and especially with our suite.

I am in middle of uploading my pics to Webshots and you will find some of the pics for the suite there. Here is the link:

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask... And enjoy your cruise and suite, we did.....
