Keys2Heaven Posted December 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2006 Real quick question. We leave tommorow for our 12/10 Destiny cruise and just wanted to make sure that my daughter's student ID is sufficient for getting through the airport. I've read a lot on here and it seems that if you are not of driving age (she's 15), a student ID would suffice. We are taking our birth certificates as well. yearnin4cruisin Posted December 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2006 I just flew with my 15 year old and they don't even ask for a photo ID if someone is under 16. We offered up the school ID because we had brought it along and the woman wouldn't even look at it. Can't hurt to bring it along though.
Keys2Heaven Posted December 9, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted December 9, 2006 Thanks. Needed to get my last minute panic attack question out of the way. Now, let the adventure begin. :D
jimbug Posted December 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2006 As an FYI, just in case they do ask for it, mine has worked in the past. When I was in college a couple years back, I flew with a friend and realized I had forgotten my driver's license (MAJOR OOPS)...they accepted my university i.d. with my picture and SS# on it. Don't know if that is regulation or not, but I seem to recall the airport signage just requiring a photo i.d., not a state-issued one.
jimbug Posted December 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2006 P.S. - Have fun on the Destiny! I can't wait to hear your report when you return...7 more months of waiting for me!!! What hotel are you staying at? That's what I'm trying to work out now.

The TSA (aka Take Scissors Away) people may not have even known what they accept. After all, they have no clue how to work half their equipment and no idea about what a legal search is. HeidiHo Posted December 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2006 15 Y/o old will be fine with student ID. She won't even need that for the airport but it wouldn't hurt to bring it.
